In anticipation of the release a number of JK players thought about developing a place where players (clan and independent) could meet, setup games, chat, hangout, or just idle. JaG, a long-time JK clan, decided to register #nar on irc.enterthegame, a IRC server. What is IRC? IRC is a chat program that a number of games use to bring their communities together. Tribes 1, Q3, UT, CS, JK, and a host of other communities maintain channels and servers. Players chat, idle, hangout, talk smack, trade stories, and even conduct interviews in these channels. One version of IRC can be found here: http://www.mirc.com mIRC is one such program that allow players to connect to IRC servers. The help file is excellent. Why enterthegame? A number of clans (IRN, Syk, HDK, JCS, DH, WC, DSbr, among others), organizations (TsN), and other groups currently have channels on the enterthegame server. With a number of community members on one server, we thought it would be our best choice for a channel where our community could come together. Feel free to stop by, chat, idle, or whatever! As to activity in the room, it depends on what time you go, as well as what day of week it is. We've had an increase in activity, because of promotion, word of mouth, and the coming release. I have a thread showing 3-4 admin/moderators (Aristotle, Vagabond, others) that would disagree with you. See, "Am In the Right Forums?" Vagabond told me to go ahead and remake the thread. Perhaps you should discuss with your fellow admins what your stance on the issue is. As of right now, I have 4 admins/moderators telling me what I am doing is fine, but i have one telling me otherwise. Also, notice that I am only bumping one thread, not making multiple ones about the same topic. Are you saying that multiple threads concerning "Killer Gonks" and "Do you think Luke is cute?" are more important than developing a community? So far, the response has been good to the channel. I've noticed more and more people in there everyday. A number of them have said they heard about it on the forums. If you find my bumping of this thread as pointless, then you are basically telling me, as well as the number of players I represent, that the development of the community as well as the development of the competitive community is pointless and should not be pursued. In the end, my goal is this: Provide a general channel to be used by clans, independents, organizations, to come together in a server used by a large number of prominent and established clans and organizations within the JK community. Members of your affiliation were not responding to my questions which was quite irritating. In addition i was not asking n00b questions, simply things like how long have yall been around simple things. It seemed odd that 3 of your memebers simply put a smilely face and thats it. I didnt find it respectfull and your comment as far as my lack of common sense confirms my notation that your clan isnt very hospitiable. Thanks for running the point home. After you press connect to irc server a text box will pop up. This is where you entere #nar. And press ok. I work for Trane, I am a marketing engineer at the business unit/production facility in Lexington, KY. Here we produce two lines that Trane has to offer, both being large modular rooftop and and indoor units. These things can be as small as your 17"monitor, or wide enough so that you can park to pickup trucks side by side. It's good stuff, and I get to travel every now and then. Which is quite busy because we are constantly demoing or testing with clients. Not to mention im restructuring the network here. Joygasm heh. They think they are already #1 at it, but it's not out! I would recommend #massassi, at irc.massassi.net. Or #jk2 on irc.massassi.net. #massassi is the Massassi.net chat, lots of JK and JK2 talk there. #jk2 is a channel dedicated to JK2. Not many people use it, but more will eventually.
