Oreckel
Got this in an e-mail: 8:02 PM on February 20 this year will be an historic moment in time. It will not be marked by the chiming of any clocks or the ringing of bells, but at that precise time, on that specific date, something will happen which has not occurred for 1,001 years and will never happen again. As the clock ticks over from 8:01 pm on Wednesday, February 20, time will, for sixty seconds only, read in perfect symmetry 2002, 2002, 2002, or to be more precise - 20:02, 20/02, 2002. The only other time the clock has been "palindromic" (i.e., read backwards it looks the same as read forwards) was at 10:01 AM on January 10, 1001, and it will never happen again. So, enjoy the moment! And, as a special treat, here is my favorite "palindrome": "A man, a plan, a canal, Panama." The letters line up the same forwards and backwards. OnlyOneCanoli
Yeah, my history teacher told us about that today. I guess it's pretty interesting. One kid was upset because it was the only time in history that it would be that way.

Darth_Lando
Does anyone here rememeber what they were doing @ 12:34 and 56 seconds on 7-8-90? hehehe Actually that email has one error, and that is that this type of palindromic date will happen one more time in human history and that is March 30, 3003. After that date this type of date will never happen again.
matt--
What if we rework the calendar system by then?
Wacky_Baccy
I thought about that too, matt, but decided that the date system almost certainly wouldn't change in my lifetime, so I let it go Originally posted by Darth_Lando Actually that email has one error, and that is that this type of palindromic date will happen one more time in human history and that is March 30, 3003. A palindromic date will occur again, but not with the time matching it - we don't currently have thirty hours in the day (30:03, 30/03, 3003) ...but that might change I suppose... although I doubt it will happen until we have colonised other parts of space, so in my eyes, it doesn't really count

Broode
Whoever started the 'itll never happen again' thingo should have done their research. What about 9:12, December 21, 2112? Or, 2112 2112 2112. So its only another 110 years from now.
Dan12R
Too bad that doesn't work here in the good old USA. Month comes first so it would be 02/20.
