This thread has been moved here to our anything-goes off-topic forum, Yoda's Swamp. You posted in the Valley of the Jedi which is only for JK2-related discussions.

Feel free to discuss the merits of MotS here. Personally, I was happy with the entire expansion pack. The designers of it accomplished exactly what they probably set out to do, mix things from JK up a bit in numerous fun ways. The most interesting was probably the new method of force play.

MOTS was a fun addition to Jedi Knight, however I was never a big fan of the carbonite gun or the seeker rails. I still think the seeker rails were invented for people who couldn't aim with the regular rail detenator. The carbonite gun became more of an irritant in MP more than anything, in single player I never really found much of a use for it. I did like the addition of being able to detonate mines manually, or automatically. The sniper scope was another fine addition, actually gave the stormtrooper some use in multiplayer, as opposed to the 'last ditch effort' weapon that I always used it for.

Multiplayer levels were quite interesting, cloud city was always fun, and gantry was a riot when played by itself especially with guns. Throne room was always fun for duels, and Tatooine homestead I had alot of fun with. That tree canopy level was great too now that I think of it, I enjoyed space port but quickly got burnt out on it. I thought the Hutt palace was always lacking something however, but I always liked the atmosphere of the sith temple. For the life of me I don't think I ever played the moisture vaporator facility level.

The only high point in single player that I really enjoyed alot was the Hutt palace level.

I really enjoyed MotS. It has a few annoying bugs (compared to JK) and the SP felt just a bit rushed and gimmicky (didn't feel as polished as JK's for some reason.. maybe it was the cutscenes).

However, in the MP department, I always felt that MotS was superior (getting rid of Dark/Light sides to the Force is a toss up.. it seems less "rpgish" but it makes for greater customization of styles...). The only thing missing was CTF, but when Hedge converted the JK CTF levels to MotS, I was in heaven. ; )

Now there's a quandry for ya.. how come nobody ever took his code and designed new CTF levels specifically for MotS? Class based CTF with the Sith engine was great fun...

What I loved most about MotS over the years was the community. Never before was a more.. uh.. interesting group of people collected in one game room. Of course, Asteroid has died now, but that's the fault of the 200+ people who sit in nar all day. If they had figured it out a year ago the world would be a better place. So anyways I hope that Outcast will live up the the high standard which LEC has already set.

MotS was great. I think LEC overdid the use of colored lighting in some places though.

I think my favorit thing about MotS was the extra stuff it had for us editors. Not only the new stuff in the game, but they left a lot of unused/unfinished stuff on the CD. I've enjoyed going through it all and seeing what I can use in my levels. :)

all lucasarts expansion packs are cool.... they give you more than the average expansion pack...
