Virtuoso
Some more shots from this up-coming sweet game......................... Concept art here as well...........shows all the versatility............ In game models........... Here is a interview ..................................................................................................... ..... A Visit with the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Producers LucasArts.com: Tell us about the platforms for this game. Mike: Since the beginning, we have been developing this game for both the PC and a next generation console platform. We are just now announcing our plans to bring the game to the Xbox as the console platform. One important reason is the opportunity for establishing this as one of the first strong RPG experiences on this new platform. Casey: We are focusing specifically on each platform from a design and technology standpoint, and the team is committed to making a great Xbox experience, as well as a great PC experience. LucasArts.com: How are launch dates determined for each platform? Mike: We are planning to launch the Xbox version this coming fall, followed by the PC version next spring. One reason for this platform timing relates to other LucasArts PC release plans for the coming year. With the Star Wars Galaxies RPG also planned for the PC this fall, we want to provide some space between these two games. LucasArts.com: How will the versions of the game vary by platform? Casey: Each version will have a specifically designed interface that is best suited to those game players. We've also tried to make the design as flexible as possible so that it's accessible to a lot of people, but also has the depth that RPG players expect. We'll also be taking advantage of as many of the hardware capabilities as possible on each platform. We will announce additional platform specific features as the release dates for each version approach. LucasArts.com: Will this game be like Baldur's Gate I & II? Mike: We wanted to work with BioWare on this game because of their expertise and tremendous success with RPG games like Baldur's Gate I and II. Casey: The game is visually different then anything that BioWare has done before, even Neverwinter Nights. I think that you can expect the same type of rich story and characters as in the Baldur's Gate series, along with a completely new combat system and interface. LucasArts.com: When and how can we find out more? Mike: Aside from the information on this site, we will be talking about the game quite a bit in the coming weeks and months, starting with the April issues of Official Xbox Magazine and Computer Games Magazine. Then we'll be showing the game at the Electronic Entertainment Exposition (E3) show in May, plus extensive magazine and web stories. Casey: We'll also be doing chats and keeping up with everyone on the official game forums, which launch today. LucasArts.com: Thanks for your time and the update. Casey/Mike: Thank you! Great news if you ask me, a real next gen game and a Star wars game done right............
Virtuoso
Here is some more proof if you need it.......... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Knights of the Old Republic Launched! BioWare is pleased to announce the launch of the official Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Knights of the Old Republic website. In launching these new forums, BioWare and LucasArts have given expecting fans a place to discuss the highly anticipated title with input from people directly involved in the game's development. Additionally, to celebrate the launch of the official KoTOR website, LucasArts has posted a Q&A with the game's producers: Casey Hudson at BioWare, and Mike Gallo at LucasArts; as well as several new screenshots of the title in action. That can all be found at the official Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic website at LucasArts.com. Thanks, ToTheGame. Wednesday, February 27 2002 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Link to site.......just scroll down about halfway if you still need more proof beyond this..........http://www.evilavatar.com/redirected.asp?fromurl=http%3A//www.evilavatar.com/EA/Screenshots/Preview/M36374/ Knights of the Old Republic Details Feb 27 9:59PM by Evil Avatar (53) The latest Computer Games Magazine has the scoop on Knights of the Old Republic. Here are the facts as they lay it out: The XBOX version of KOTR will debut first, PC gamers will have to wait. PC gamers will not see this title until late 2003, while XBOX owners could see it this XMAS. In essence, KOTR should be viewed now as a XBOX game that will be ported to the PC later. Main reason for PC delay release is that Lucas does not want this title going up against Galaxies for Star Wars fans on the PC. Also BioWare and Lucas view this title as an aggressive move into the console market, that both will put their focus towards in the future. BioWare wishes to have 50% of their titles on consoles within the next few years. The XBOX appears to be their console of choice. BioWare will not abandon the PC market however, they view this as their roots. The XBOX and PC versions of KOTR will be somewhat different. They don't explain the difference, but they say there will be some to target both platforms better. Knights of the Old Republic will use an engine called Odyssey. Supposedly it takes advantage of the the latest graphical technology in the GeForce 3. The Odyssey engine is a step above the engine used for Neverwinter. The gameplay will be more action packed than the Baldur's Gate series. They describe it as a "rules-based real-time system, with a strong action component". There will be "minigames" included that are like those found in the Final Fantasy series. These will be in the form of interactive cut scenes. Three classes is all that is described here, choice of gender will be in. The game will feature a level up system with skills you get to put points in. You can pick what skills you wish to learn. Your actions will determine if you drift towards the dark or light side of the force. You must play as a human, but your party can (up to 3 at a time) anything from wookies to druids. You will visit about 8 worlds in the game, some familiar like Tatooine. Character animations feature eyebrow movement, moving eyes, rustling hair. Animations for emotions are included as well like fear or pain. Described as some of the most life like characters seen in an RPG like this to date. You control a starship called the Ebon Hawk, and this is how you travel in the game. Ship has the same "character and focus as the Millennium Falcon in the movies". It's cool I get this bad boy on my extra large HDTV with full on 5.1 Dolby surround sound and great gamepad just laying back in a plush and comfy recliner................Just bring it on BIO WARE>>>>>>>.... Virtuoso
Back to your regular program.............. KOTOR will be getting a real in depth look by me at E3 if not sooner.................I have been lucky enough to see the game running real time in a 20 minute video and must say it is far beyond any static screen shot. The tall grass sways with perfect in game dynamics and the game was just in a pretty far off from finished version. It really will be so much more than most people can imagine now. The game will have great scripting and high levels of A.I. to go along with all the great gameplay options and eye candy, it will be HOT.
