I think if the MP in JKII is similar to the gameplay that SBX has, than I think, after getting use to it (an hour or 2), I'll be above average.

I voted Jawa, I'll probably be the one holding the wrong end of the lightsaber and burning my hand to a crisp (cool, then I can get me a metal hand just like masta Luke!).

LOL

I guess I'll be above average, how good I will become depends on how much time I have to play. I usually improve my level quickly in FPS.

I'm going to go straight to MP as soon as i get the game (well wait, i might start the first level to see how kyle's doin ;) ) and I'll probably suck for a few days, but after that time, i usually pick up pretty quick in FPS. :)

Now, the new saber fights, hehe....challenging to learn? Let's hope not. :(

PEACE! :D

Me, I'll stay away from the MP part of the game :) I only briefly tried MP in JK and well got shredded.

Though I do say I was better at FPS NF MP than SO FF MP.

I even came close to joining a clan once but everyone I was talking to vanished from the zone.....

I doubt I'll bother with MP other than for the BOTS part of it maybe

Ok I don't want to sound like a arrogant L337 player so please don't take this that way.

I have been playing Elite Force for a while now. Yet, a tear less than all the really good players. I'm not claiming to be the best, but I will definately put up a decent fight. I can do all the tricks the amazing players can and am learning a lot. This is also my first FPS. I think I will be quite good, yet not the best. Maybe looked at as the Little brother of the Elite Group. Sorry if that sounded braggy.

Hopefully the range of swings and movements are as good as Saber Battle X. If so it should take me a few hours to get used to the new engine and tricks available. Add a few hours tinkering with the bots until I get used to the multiplayer. Then I should be good enough to say I'm a true Stormtrooper.

I don't me to offend anyone, but it's kind of funny how the majority of people seem to think they will be "above average" . That ofcourse is a contradictory statement, because if everyone one is above average, then everyone is average, in MP that is.

I voted for smuggler myself. I'll probably have games where I'm as bad as a Jawa, and maybe some where I'm almost as good as bounty hunter, but I'll probably be average over all...

I'm not sure

people who post here is not average people, we have been anticipating the game for years (some of us), so It's understandable that we'll play a lot of JO, probably more than what the average player will

I'm not saying people who post here will be the best, not at all, most of the best JK players never posted at jk.net boards, but I think people who has been posting here and is interested in MP will probably play a lot, and even the worst players improves with practice

When i first pop the cd in for the first time i'm going to be lower than a jawa against some bots but after a few days i will consider my self at least as good as a stormie. I voted for stormie be cuz when i start that is what i will probley be. But after other people start slowing down on pratice i will be able to catch up get my own place in the community.

Above average is guaranteed given my skills in past FPSes, including JK. I should be able to join most servers and come out on top a large number of times, just like most other FPSes.

I proved my nack for FPSes years ago, and unless I get carpal tunnel I can only improve. Once I get above average it then depends how much time I want to put into it and therefore how far I want to establish myself in the upper tier.

Usually I don't push too far, because I like to play other games and do other things, and I realize I will never be as good as someone who is both naturally good at FPSes and puts in the time. That is my reality.

Plus, I've been put off by competition as of late, viewing it as quite an overrated and futile enterprise, but that's a different more personal matter.

When it comes down to it, I'm sure I'll be pretty good at JO, but at the same time I have nothing to prove to no one. So MEH.

Well, digl, like you said, the worst people that'll play JO won't post here, and neither will the best (with the expetion of Pipe.. ), so I assumed that we have the same cross section of players as what will be playing JO MP most of the time... Maybe I'm wrong though.

However, I bet if we made a poll saying: "In comparison with the rest of the players that post at JKII.net forums, how good would you say you are?" And most of them will be "above average".

I dunno... I guess I'm just sick of the "elitism" (and people that think they are) that goes around with JK...

Actually, the way I like to think of it isn't so much that everyone always has the same skill level, but that it fluctuates, I don't mean over time, from a noob to an "elite" but I mean on a day to day basis, even hourly.

For example, sometimes when I'm playing Tribes 2 I start to feel like I'm actually playing really well... I can dodge spinfusers with minimal effort... shocklance someone in the back while in mid air... ect. But then at other times (most of the time) I suck pretty badly... whenever I fire a grenade it always seems to bounce back at me... I always get shot down whenever I'm in a vehicle... Whenever I duel someone I always lose.. .ect.

My point being, even the best "elite" players can be beaten (not with luck), by even low skill players. It just depends on how good you're doing that day...

BTW, I actually found that the less I play T2 the better I will be when I start playing it again (after a certian ammount of time my skill starts to fall apart, like after 3 months, but anything less then 1 month is an improvement to how good I do. It doesn't make me worse)... So I don't believe "the more you play the better you get" thing. Up untill you learn all the basics and all the tricks I don't think how much you play really matters.

PS, I'm sure some of you really are true "elite" players, but the majority just like to think they're above average...

Once agian, this isn't a flame agianst anyone, or ment to be taken in offense.

Krayt has it bang to rights, it is mostly about WORK. If you're fighting someone who plays at least once a day and has forced themselves to be good, you may have natural ability, but you'll still lose to them. Someone who has both natural ability AND works hard, as Krayt says, will be the most skilled.

So really, the poll shouldn't be "how good do you think you'll be?" but "how much time are you willing to devote to becoming good?"

As for myself, I have no pre-conceived notions of how good I'll be. I know from many past experiences, notably in Quake 2, that if a game doesn't click with me, even if I loved previous games in the series, then I won't be motivated to work hard at becoming good. So until I've played the game, I won't know either way, and personally I don't think anyone CAN know beforehand...

Oh and Krayt, hopefully there'll be sufficient prize tournaments to make competition truly worthwhile!
