Xenon812
How in the F**K can I kill this Rancor? I have seen Mara(?) eaten by this Rancor too many times now. I know I am suppose to defeat this thing, but as all I have is a lightsaber, I am at a loss to figure out what to do.... Any help would be appreciated... Pedro The Hutt
Run around it in circles and attack it like silly.. I managed to kill it like that with just my fists. (well.. run in circles and avoid it's front side if possible.)
The Seeker
Okay, if you are less brave and don't feel like running around it, there is an area I think to the right of where you are when you come out of the water that is an open area, but the rancor can't get to you there. It is marked by a stream running through thecenter of the area and it has a grate door at the other end. Look through the grate door, and you'll see your lightsaber. Use force Pull and you are once again armed. So, stand in that area, and creep as close as you can to the edge of the area where the rancor is waiting. Get so close that he starts trying to grab you, but fear not, he can't get you. Start swinging your saber at it, and when you hear him roar, you're close enough. Stand firm and keep swinging till he dies and viola, you are healthy as ever, armed, and have one dead rancor. Pretty cool huh?
Kurgan
I have a memory of using persuasion and then ducking under his belly and wailing away with my fists until he was a wimpering heap of monster...
Pedro The Hutt
Lol, so as you can see Xenon... you can add alot of variation in slaying the foul Rancor. (Oh and welcome back Kurgan, we missed ya ^_~)
Kurgan
Yeah, thanks. If you really want to catch me.. see the JK2 forums.. .especially after the new game comes out (well, unless I'm too busy playing, lol). Seriously, I'll be graduating in May, so I may have a lot less time for the forums, but I'll still lurk and post now and then. I wouldn't leave you guys forever... ; )
Xenon812
As soon as I finished posting, I went back and killed it on my very first try. I was really pissed off at it (I already knew about the area that it could not get to..thank heavens for that!) but I just used Force Speed so it would have a difficult time staying up with me, and yes I ran in circles, and spent a considerable amount of time under it's belly slashing with my light saber until all of a sudden I could not hear it anymore....I stepped back, and realized I was victorious....YIPPEE!!! This is only the first time I have ever played any real-time PC games, and being a sci-fi fan, I feel fortunate to have gotten this one as my first. And considering the fact that this game is 3-4 years old, I am looking forward to seeing what the current crop of Star Wars games is like, as I'm mightily impressed with the graphics, sound, and overall quality of this game. 2 THUMBS UP TO LUCASARTS!!! Another question....is the original PC game Jedi Knight of the same quality? I know that MOTS is an add-on for it...just curious... Once again, thanks for the help peeps, if I need further assistance, I know where to go and who to ask!! I am now on Level 9, and killing space-pirates. DIE DIE DIE!!!!!! Pedro The Hutt
hmm.. normally you can't be playing MotS without having JK installed (or at least having a JK CD at the ready) so it's odd that you're asking that question.
Rogue15
crackie from megagames.com. that's what i needed...hehehehe and JK has a good sp story. I don't care for jk mp tho...no voice taunts.
The Seeker
Man, if you think MotS is impressive, you are gonna absloutely not be able to leave you computer when you start JK. The levels are better designed, the game has a more star warsy feel to it. There are SEVEN dark jedi to face, a moral conflict between light and dark, and live action cutscenes, which up to that point was the first Star Wars footage shot in some 20 years. True, the acting isn't that great, but I think it really helps imerse you in the story. I'll put it this way. I still have fun playing JK and I have beat it at least a dozen times on hard, and as you can see in my sig, I am the best at SP. So, finish MotS, then play JK for some real fun. Rogue15
ya, i liked jks storyline a tiny bit better....not the ending tho, the ending in mots owned. (the boss and cool stuff that i don't want to spoil the guy who needed help with rancor with). I like jk cutscenes better tho...i miss them my friend has the jk cds...and i must SUFFER!!!!! (it was my own doing tho...since i let him borrow them for a while....been almost a year, i'm moving so i can get them back ) MotS has better mp u must admit that. (VOICE TAUNTS OWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Pedro The Hutt
Well the only problem is that both you and your opponent need to have the exact same .wav files ^_^"
Xenon812
Seems I have been found out haha..yeah I have a MOTS that is not an "offical" version. My opinion though is that by being able to try before buying, I REALLY want to buy now. My Birthday is coming up, and I think I will ask for JK and MOTS for a present. From what I have seen at LucasArts website, the games are not very expensive at all. I would say for 20-30 bucks apiece, you are damn well getting your money's worth!! I just finished the 14th level. Sometime in a week or so, I will set it up for the secret 15th level and check it out. I really did not care much for the swamp level. Was glad to get through it, and did not bother trying to find many of the secrets. THEN I spent 3 hours trying to defeat the Evil Mara. Could not do it to save my ass. So I went into God mode and stayed there as I proceeded to the next levels, as I have been staying up til 6-7am every night (playing 8-10 hours per night) for the last 10 days. I need to resume a somewhat normal (haha) schedule, like at least going to bed by 3 AM. So I just wanted to get through the final levels this night, and I am proud to say I did. The Sith Temple was a trip! I was blown away by the Jedi statues. I started on medium my first time out, so I feel I did not do too bad. and considering I have no user's manual. I feel I did damn good. Perhaps if my financial situation permits it by this fall I might be able to get into Star Wars Galaxies. THAT sounds like a blast! I have a friend who is an EverQuest fanatic, so I understand the basic concept. To have it based around Star Wars will be fantastic! Once again, thanks for the help and encouragement! Kurgan
I remember messing around with my Highlander taunts, that was fun. ; ) Anyway, I was annoyed by the fact that MotS had only low res sounds (sounded like crud compared to the high res ones in JK), I guess they couldn't spare the space on the CD? But the Multiplayer was great, and the colored lighting added a bit of atmosphere (although I know some people hated it).
Chiles4
Yeah, if you like MotS, you'll definitely dig JK. I'm playing both MotS(for the first time) and JK Outcast. Somehow JK has a more Star Wars feel to it and IMHO, the level design is excellent. Probably the best game Lucasarts ever put out. JK2 is great but I don't think it'll ever replace JK as my all-time favorite! It blows me away that a game with such dated graphics pulls me away from JK2 at times!
