I'm not really bored but they could made the gameplay more powerfull it is so stiff :( and too static !.

The sounds needs to be improved and de lasers graphics more up to date !!.

If you compare it with Westwood RTS'games they are so smooth, the engine of the game is very nice to play with.

So lucasarts take a lession of all of this.

I really disagree, I think westwood games are boring. CC RA2 sucks in my opinion because its basically 2 different civs, and the recource gathering sucks. The storyline is so pathetic in RA2! I could have made those cematics better in my garage! It kills every hope of a good RTS. Just the story, and acting destroys the game, you dont even have to play it to get bored, just thinking of the acting and story line kills me. The in game characters and units are terrible looking, no detail at all. THe buildings look great, but they spent no time on unit detail. The cematics and storyline launch a silo nuke that destroys everything westwood tried to do.

I think y' all need to get off the zone and play GB on a lan connection. Get 3 friends and a hub, play some 2v2 and you got hours of fun. Use different strats, not the same one, be unique every game. Play water maps! Water warfare is a ball. If the lan game insn't a remedy for ya...buy Jedi Outcast in may!

I agree with some of the points made about RA2.

I bought Tiberian Sun and like RA2, the game was very dull indeed - until they brought out the x-pack, which gave us some nice new toys to play with.

These games companies are getting very naughty at this. It's great to have x-packs with new stuff but when a game like RA2, Tiberian Sun just lacks a variety of units - makes the experience bad.

I bought TB as a gap b4 the release of Force Commander. Needless to say, I stayed with Tiberian Sun with the X-pack.

It's ok. It would stink for GB though. I think the best engine for SWGB would've either been the SC engine, or the C&C engine. They would both make the air units better looking, not to mention the fact that the graphics are so much better there. In the SC engine, all they'd have to add would be naval units.

I don't get bored with the game. When I do, I just download something cool for it to increase the gameplay! That's what I do with SC too. The game is so fun.

P.S. RA2 and Tiberium Sun rock! They're so fun! The graphics are great, the game is more fast paced, and the cinematics are so good!

i'm not 'bored' of gb, i just have some other games i like to play...like mots and jedi power battles...i played gb the other day....3 computer enemies in a ffa random map 200 max pop. hehe i left my base eventually like after the wookiees were wiped out by the stupid gungans, and i went to the wookiee base and o good, spaceport, so i build a spaceport a little distance from there and a bunch of cargo hoverthings and get a ton of nova, then i want to see the gungan's progress to see if it was worth playing another 2 hours, so i use forcesight and forcexplore and they own the whole top of the map, so i get ticked off and simonsays them cuz i would've lost otherwise with their millions of anti air and turrets and shelters and troopers and airbirds......

i was playing as the trade fed, put a bunch of simons in to stop their production and stuff and troops and i just wipe them out cuz it was starting to get boring. lol i'd rather play against a non-expert human player.

I have been a Westwood fan since way back...anyone remeber The Mars Saga? I can always fall back to anyone of their games for a quick skirmish. This game has been a great diversion and I do like the fact that a game can last for hours. Westwoods newest FPS "Renegade" is a great game in my opinion. Anyway, I frequently play SWGB, C&C (any of them), Pool Of Radience, or a few FPS's. A good mix I don't tire from.

As far as new civs in the expansion, I would love to see the Tusken Raiders. I would guess the ewoks will make an appearance.

  • 3 weeks later...

i've played all sorts of strat games (myth, aok, starcraft, warcraft, ra2, homeworld, etc, etc.) and to me the best engine of them all is starcraft. the 3 civs vary dramatically compared to those found in swgb, aok, ra2, etc.

however, i'm not tired of swgb. i hope the xpac makes the two civs rather different from those in the swgb retail version for there to be diversity. i agree though, some of the sound issues need to be addressed. and it would be nice if there were some sc elements to the game such as more effective cloaking and burrowing (that spider like unit would be a great example)....

Trying to make the civs vary would only make those scream even louder for game balance. I think thats the bottom line.

Every civ has the same units - just in different clothes - and no one civ really has a proper advantage with unique units.

I think the Destroyer Droids are great and powerful - players have moaned that they are too powerful and can't counter them.(use air speeders)

I still think that the AT-AT should be the most feared unit in the game, stronger than any other Assault mech, the gungans should have a shield with a greater radius and one that rebounds laser blasts, like in the film. Things like this would make players work harder at one civ and become an expert with them - creating a more fun game.

Also, having games that can end in 20 minutes, I think doesnt help. The biggest weakness with AOK & SWGB is the ability to rush within 20 minutes and knock out an opponent. It's like a mad race to hit T2 or T3 - that's not strategy.

I agree with Hazeknight... most of ya'll talking about being bored sounds like you're playing against the computer or the campaigns in game.

Get online and play against real-people. That's where the real fun takes place. Real people are always unpredictable. You're bound to be surprised at least once a day... and it's so much more satisfying to completely pound on somebodys base that they worked so hard to build as compared to a computer who doesn't have any emotions about things like that... heh. :D

and I'll agree with joining a clan as well. I used to be totally anti-clan, but I got in with a good group of people and playing tournaments is even MORE challenging than just playing regular online games. Of course you have to know how to be a gracious loser...

ya...online is totally different than playing against computer. You don't know your opponents strategies, they could be the naboo and instead of using air (which i've started to expect from the computer every time i play against naboo) they build a crapload of troopers and come through the back of your base somehow and slaughter all your aa troopers! or something like that.

I like Tiberian Sun and I think SWGB will be better on the Tiberian Sun engine. It would be very cool. Use mods to spice up the games. That help out a bunch or downloads some of those maps from the main site or make your own or make a scenario. Dont focus just main playing be creative. :)

Try doing different strategies, such as rushing. This is STRATEGY, because it forces you to conform to what ever is going on in the game. If everyone playing is at a good skill level the game will NOT end at 20 minutes. And if it does? So what. The game was much more fun because you were at the edge of the seat the entire time trying to figure out what to do.
