Darth Simpson Posted March 13, 2002 Posted March 13, 2002 Very much looking forward to it. Looks great, and the concept is excellent. I really cannot wait to hear some more concrete info, as well as see some more footage. I found both Baldur's Gate games to be a little too immersive though, and I was never a fan of the Forgotten Realms rule system is those games. At least we know they won't be using those rules here. What I'm really excited about is the fact that we are getting a Star Wars RPG, which I've always wanted. Again, I can't wait to see the results.
Xirion Posted March 13, 2002 Author Posted March 13, 2002 you interested in SWG too? thats a RPG a MMORPG
Com Raven Posted March 13, 2002 Posted March 13, 2002 First, Forgotten Realms are a [great] Campaign Setting, but no rules... They are called [advanced] Dungeons&Dragons, and I am sorry, but it looks like Knights will use the D20 system, which is in fact D&D 3rd Ed.....
Com Raven Posted March 13, 2002 Posted March 13, 2002 To answer you original question: There seems to be some new elements.... When I bought BG, it was also completely new to me, but ever since then, it's one of my faves, so..... I am exited....
Hannibal Posted March 13, 2002 Posted March 13, 2002 I'm thinking of bying BG2 now. As far as KOTOR goes I'm more excited about this game than I have been for any game ever. I hope one of your party members can be an apprentice.
Com Raven Posted March 13, 2002 Posted March 13, 2002 Getting BG is the best price/service ratio imaginable if you like rpgs....
Darth Simpson Posted March 13, 2002 Posted March 13, 2002 Ah, when you mention it, I can see I was wrong. I agree with Forgotten Realms being an excellent setting. Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 had a great feeling, but I just had a problem with the way combat were handled, especially the rule system. I sure hope you are wrong about KOTOR using the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons rule set. That doesn't even remotely relate to SW. No, come up with something for someone a little less hardcore to cope with. I'd like something in between Diablo 2 and BG. That would be hardcore enough for the hardcore, and simple enough for the casual player. But knowing Bioware, I'm sure they will go with the most advanced stuff they can find. :/
Wraith 5 Posted March 13, 2002 Posted March 13, 2002 last i heard (and this most likey came out of star wars gamer somewhere) was that they were going to use the d20 system of star wars rules. It would seem stupid (to me at lest) to use the d&d rule set when they have a good star wars rule set they can use.
Com Raven Posted March 13, 2002 Posted March 13, 2002 D20 is a free, licensable rules system.... It powers both D&D 3rd. Ed., as well as SW....
Wraith 5 Posted March 13, 2002 Posted March 13, 2002 I did not know that the d20 system was a free system.
Xirion Posted March 14, 2002 Author Posted March 14, 2002 baulders gate that any good? i have friends who have got it, they gave me mixxed reactions
Com Raven Posted March 14, 2002 Posted March 14, 2002 BG series are my favourite games, together with Age ones.... go to http://www.wizards.com and take a look at d20 license stuff...
Darth Simpson Posted March 14, 2002 Posted March 14, 2002 D'oh! Wrong again... I really need to update myself here.
StormHammer Posted March 16, 2002 Posted March 16, 2002 My biggest worry with Knights was about the perspective...but having see the screenshots, those fears are laid to rest. Graphically, the game is very good, with great detailing on the models, very good lighting, etc...which all helps to build atmosphere. The scope and setting look very promising too. I can hardly wait to go exploring, and immersing myself in the game. Based on some other titles, around 60 hours gameplay sounds a bit short, but if it's packed full of goodness, I probably won't mind too much. As long as it's not too linear and allows you some real freedom of choice, then it should be good. From everything I've read, it sounds like a great game, and I can't wait to see it in action.
MercenaryI{aos Posted March 16, 2002 Posted March 16, 2002 I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of this game and is my first rpg experience. I'd like to get SW:G but I'm not to sure if I will. KOTOR I am definately getting though.
Sithcloak Posted March 22, 2002 Posted March 22, 2002 I haven't played an rpg but this game sounds great, cant wait! To bad they are going to be releasing the pc version a few months later. Sithcloak
Lord Slart Posted March 27, 2002 Posted March 27, 2002 I played BG and loved it but haven't had the time to play BG2 yet. This game has the best of both in my opinion RPG and StarWars. How much better could it get. If this is done right it could be the best game ever. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of this.
