Early Episode 2 review

Recommended Posts

I just read a review on by someone who claims to have seen an rough cut of Episode 2. I kinda wish I hadn't read it cuz I don't want to know

too much about the movie. before going into the theater.

Anyway, some good points were brought up about the flick (I will include no spoilers)

#1. AOTC makes TPM look like a better movie. No,

not saying that Episode 2 is so bad it will make

Episode 1 look better but that Episode 2 explains

some things about Episode 1 that ties up some

loose ends and revealing some stuff about the

first episode.

#2. If you think that Darth Maul, Darth Vader, or

the Emperor were some bad friggin d00ds wait until

you see Yoda in action. Yoda is gonna make people

in the audience collectively gasp expletives.

#3. Ewan Mcgregor owns the Obiwan role in this

movie. His acting is superb in the role.

#4. This Star Wars should be one of the most

entertaining of the whole series to watch.

#5. Those who were saying LOTR was the next Star

Wars and the SW story was dead may think twice

after seeing this movie and no other movie is

going to be able to withstand Episode 2 this

summer.

There was a lot more said but I don't want to ruin

any surprised for anyone. I just want to get

yaw'll as excited about it as I am. w00t!

Come on May 2002!!!!!!!!

I don't care about spoilers... Could you post a link to the site?

Also, I think it's kind of lame having Yoda fight... I mean, you can be the most powerful jedi without ever fighting... it ruins his character. Besides, I'm pretty sure it's going to look silly for Yoday to be running around doing back flips and spinning ect... I really don't see how they couldn't make him looks silly.

That is what the reviewer said as well, but he said Yoda's scene put to rest that idea.

I'll post a link but I warn you.. it may contain more than you want to know.

Not that he gives away any of the 'core' plot twists of the movie, but a knowlegable Star Wars fan could read it and put two and two together and may regret knowing it.

There are quite a few descriptions of minor events in the movie... again more than you may want to know so hold on to your EP2 virginity if you're not ready! ;)

In my mind, Yoda will always be Grover.

A very, very little spoiler that most people would like to know:

Jar Jar Binks. Jar Jar has a 15 second StepInFetchIt shuffle speak routine he does as he goes to first let Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker into the Amidala’s quarters that is so offensively awful, that it will not only make you recoil in horror, but it will remind you of all of the worst aspects of his character from THE PHANTOM MENACE. I wanted to burn the film, destroy, maim and murder it at this stage. I was steeling myself from the impending incompetence, the horror of my childhood being molested. I was prepared to have a very bad time.

I like the idea of seeing Yoda in action. I think it adds more depth to his character. The whole 'war does not make one great' from ESB takes on a new meaning. Anyone can say "war is hell", but when a seasoned soldier does it, it hits home a bit more. Not that he doesn't have any now, but it adds more credibility to him being a 'master'. You know, been there, done that, I know what I'm talking about. And besides, what are all of those midichlorians(sp?) for anyway.

and thanks for the info/link.

That's presicely why I don't want to see Yoda fighting... It completely ruins the "war does not make one great" line. Ok, so Yoda is the strongest jedi in the force... That automatically makes him the greatest fighter too?? I hoped not... But it looks like that's how it's going to be in EP2...

Besides, if you think about it in purely more force powers and midiclorians= better fighter, then the fact that Yoda puts Darth Vader to shame (in fighting) is a contradiction... Since Anakin has even more midiclorians then yoda...

he's using a massassian mind trick.

read: run as far away from that pic as possible or it'll consume u..

I'm glad it makes TPM look good. (sick of calling it episode 1, it takes too long to type it heh.)

I always like TPM from the beginning anyways....it's hard to find anything in it annoying unless u LOOK for things to be annoyed about. it was a pretty good story, i didn't understand it that well until i read Cloak of Deception and Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter.

I'm not trying to break the optimisim here, although I feel that the uninformed have a right to know. Ain'tItCool, the site that the link above refers to, isn't exactly the most, ah, credible source around for preview information on upcoming movies. That's my opinion with some serious, super heavy duty sugar coating, by the way.

Take what they say with an equally large grain of salt.
