The Wibble
Can anyone recommed a good mouse they have found good for FPS. I love my Logitech MouseMan Wheel, very comfortable with a side button but its getting a bit old. I'm idealy looking for one with 5 buttons that I can pick up tomorrow along with Jedi Kinight II. Wacky_Baccy
I agree Optical 'IntelliMouse Explorer' - should cost you about forty quid - well worth it, IMO Oh yeah - make sure you get version 3 - 6000 scans per second, whereas v.1 was 1500, and v.2 was 3000 (v.3 has slimmer side buttons, too - might be the only way to tell)
The Wibble
I've had trouble tracking down that particular mouse, is this the one your on about : http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004VUC7/qid=1017258584/sr=2-3/ref=sr_2_3_3/202-0848422-6519066
OnlyOneCanoli
That's the one! I have it myself, and I enjoy it thoroughly. Great piece of hardware, and it makes games a lot easier to play. Additionally, the Intellipoint 4.x software lets you program the buttons on it to certain programs, making it easier than ever--I recommend users on 3.x or below to get it as soon as possible. I meant this one - the 'Explorer' model... but both that and the one you linked to seem to have the side buttons... I'm confused now ...And Amazon seem to have one of the older versions which weren't nearly as good, from what I've heard...
CaptainPOE
Yea I just went out and bought a Intellimouse Explorer recently while waiting for JO I LOVE it. I also play Counter-Strike and I swear it is more accurate. Plus its much bigger than my old gateway mouse and feels sooooo much better. The 2 buttons on the side will be very useful for JO. Also you can move it around on your pants if your really lazy and dont want to sit up straight in the chair
OnlyOneCanoli
Ah, I misunderstood as well. I prefer the Optical because the Explorer's side buttons are very, very close together. I personally prefer a button on each side--not too brainwracking.
The Wibble
I'm all confused CaptainPOE Intellimouse Explorer is the one with the buttons next to each other right? Which means the link I put up was the other type with a button on each side, i'd rather go for the same mouse as you if your a CS player and you noticed accuracy increase. So, could you please clarify which one you have?
Frumpus
I've been using logitech exclusively for the last half a decade, and have not been disappointed! Currently I use an optical wheel-mouse, and an older Wingman Interceptor joystick. http://logitech.com/cf/products/mice.cfm (5 year warranties, I believe!) The Wibble
Wacky_Baccy That is the right one its just the old picture. Either way i'll be actually buying it from a shop so I'll make sure it says version 3 on the side of the box. Frumpus I would not get an optical mouse from logitech after reading the mouse comparison review at http://www.firingsquad.com Accoring to them the Logitech mouse uses 5x more resources than the microsoft one and the Microsoft has a superior scanning @ 6000 frames per second where as the logitech as dual scanning but each scanner is only 1,500 frames. Frumpus
hmm. could be. I just hate Microsoft - I hate that I have to use some of their products, and I hate that they have a crappy selection of ambidexterous mice; I like to be able to switch hands if the need arises. (I mostly use my left).
Cassiel_Blaize
Though (like most) I bash Microsoft of Borg as much as possible, I find that my Intellimouse Optical is one of the best purchases I've ever made. Wheel and five buttons, smooth and accurate, easy to configure, and good for both righters and lefters (symmetrical design). The only problem is that when running movies on my system my friends complain about the red light shining out of it. -JH.
Jyt-Pon Dai'el
I've had the MS Intellimouse Explorer for almost two years now and I love it. It really has improved my game. Plus, it's just so much more comfortable than any other mouse I've ever used. I just recently got the Wireless Version, and it's really nice too, but I like the shape and feel of the original one better.
