fido4fox
I was reading the full chat with Gary today and I noticed something. Here is the line I a talking about: Moderator: Could you tell us about Jabba's forces in the game? GarryG: He has Sand Skiffs, his Sail Barge, all of the thugs (Klaatu, Barada, Nikto, etc.) from ROTJ, as well as some other Tatooine inhabitants, including the B'omarr monk. Klaatu, Barada, Nikto sounds very much like the words that Ash has to chant to get the book of the dead from the craddle!! Does anyone know if this is a coincidence or something where SW bleeds over to other movie! G
duder
Movies notoriusly make references to one another, loads of in jokes etc. I have seen Army of Darkness but I can't recall this instance. Funnily enough Garry Gaber mentioned that he was initially a film student, so maybe he was himself making a little appreciative nod.
Darth Homer
[brainiac]Klaatu Barada Nikto are some famous words....they first appeared in the old 1951 movie The Day the Earth Stood Still. Classic movie about an alien come down to help mankind obtain world peace. He had a robot named GORT and when said alien was killed, GORT went haywire. "Klaatu Barada Nikto" were the words to turn GORT off.[/brainiac] SO, AOD was re-using these words as was SW, but probably from the original source for each. Though, I can't be sure. go here for more info: http://www.dreamerwww.com/tdtess.htm all that and I'm a HUGE AOD fan!!!! :D
Havoc Stryphe
Hail to the king Baby! Oh yeah, Army of Darkness rocks! I knew that the skiff guards were named that, and I always thought that the Words on Army of Darkness were picked as homage to Star Wars, but Darth Homer is probably right, I was unaware that the Day the Earth Stood Still contained those names. fido4fox
Well I am glad to see that the SW fans are diversified in their movie knowledge. Especially since AOD is up in the top three of my favorite movies of all time. Not that it outranks the SW films, I dont list them in my top ten, as they are in a list of untouchable movies that have no equal, like Brave Heart, Gladiator, Full Metal Jacket, and a few others. Good, Bad, I the guy with the Gun! (or if you have the directors cut, "I'm not that Good!) <Sound of a shot gun going off> Fido4fox
Havoc Stryphe
Witch: "I'll Swallow your soul, I'll swallow your soul..." *click-click* Ash: "Swallow this!" *BOOM* Yup, it's up there on my list of all time movies. Right below What About Bob!

Well, Havoc's quote was from Evil Dead 2, not Army of Darkness...both of you are correct, just for different movies
KhaleeLah
I prefer Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 over Army of Darkness. With Evil Dead 2 being the fav. The scene where Ash's severed hand makes an obscene gesture at him is the best.

fido4fox
Raimi did an outstanding job on spiderman. Awesome action, funny, and made it stick to the sotyrline like glue, for the most part. PLus the fight scene with Spidy and the goblin was very ED 2 or AOD. Lots of bashing and no music so you here the bones breaking!!! AWESOME. I am going to see it again soon, I had a huge crowd and lots of kids, so I want to go see it without kids of stupid movie goers!! Long live Sam Raimi BTW Spiderman 2 has been signed and my main man Bruce Campbell is said to be onboard!! Fido
