The barriers are an exactly duplication of the top of the landing platform as seen in Episode II based on the clips I have for reference... I am removing the lower levels simply because it would be annoying to have an incredibly huge tower there and framerates would suffer with THAT many curves after I put the tower in. Also, they don't look exactly like they really are in the screenshot because of the texturing... it distorts the image a bit.

The entire thing is scaled down a little bit so that it's more cozy for dueling purposes. And there are screens! Go look at the last page. :p

And I dunno, Anakin, I'm not much of a team player.

I typically prefer to work on my own.

All the credit, all the blame, I've just always liked that better. ;)

lol, great minds think alike. I have ALSO been working on 3 Kamino Maps. My most completed one is the walkway where you see all the clones below and my Fett escape was the least finished so atleast I dont lose to much work. I am gunna fold my project simply because I suck and cant map like you guys can. GREAT MAP! LET US SEE MORE SCREENS! lol

Also... Where it blacks out, would there be any way to make a moving waves texture like in AOTC? If so I would BUY the map from ya =P Keep up the good work and GL

If you fold, don't fold anything but the platform, cause I don't think I'm ever doing another movie-based level. :p

Too restricting. I like to be able to design my own stuff. :D

And as is, the water is just basically too dark to see... but you will see/hear yourself splash just seconds before you spin off to your doom. :D

I thought about moving waves, but the only real way to do it is with cheesy func_trains moving water brushes across the surface, which looks REALLY stupid without dynamic lighting. So I doubt I will be able to put that in, at least not until Jedi Outcast II. ;)

EDIT: That of course being Jedi Outcast II: Jedi Knight III: Dark Forces IV :p

That planet was very satisfying, v.dark grey. Nice.

I like overcast days and rain, and the 3rd screen is looking good.

If the dimensions are good, I would suggest a ship, if it was nice. The map itself (unlike duel_bay) is not too cluttered and if there was a ship it wouldn't be the Lambda shuttle.[please... NO!:D] (No huge wings to clutter the map.)

If it doesn't feel right, don't bother.

Also, what about the pole thingy Jango flys around?

I'm just getting started in mapping myself.... time for a newb question:

How do you get the light textures around the edge of the pad to actually become lightsources. When I select the shader it just produces the white glows of the lights, but no actual light is cast on the surroundings. I know the hard way is to position light entities at each of the points around the texture, but what's the easy way? Thanks for your help.

1) A model of Slave I will not go on this platform as I reduced the platform's size to make it a better closer-quarters dueling area and Slave I simply wouldn't fit.

2) I'm not including the music from Episode II because that would be a copyright infringement and LucasArts is one of THE WORST companies to deal with regarding lawsuits. If you have $5 to your name and you copy something of theirs, they will spend $10,000 to sue you for your $5.

3) Antilles is right, I made a shader to do it for me. :) I don't like positioning random light entities unless absolutely necessary.

The rest of Earth to XG:

There's no Ep2 music in JK:O. Lucas Liscensing (it's not LEC or any of the other companies that go nuts over this kind of thing) has never cared WHERE you use it, you CANNOT distribute copyrighted material. Doesn't matter to them if it's going in SW game, the point is he'd be distributing the music. Of course, comming from the background of having worked on the trilogy TC for MotS, I can tell you they never DID go after us for any of the sounds we used in levels...

Actually, no. By owning Jedi Knight 2, you don't purchase rights to the entire Star Wars empire. You purchase rights purely to items that were included in the game and must make anything else yourself. You can reference any music that CAME with the game, and nothing else.

I specifically remember the whole fiasco with music included with maps for the original Jedi Knight when LucasArts threatened everyone and said all maps with stolen music had to be taken off of public servers because their music was being redistributed unlawfully.

Take Business Law or Business Administration 101, then you'll understand. :p

EDIT: Oh, they didn't? I thought they got real pissy at a couple of mods that blatantly ripped off a bunch of music from Return of the Jedi... I remember hearing something about that.

Couple of suggestions: What about a nice mist around the bottom of the platform? It'd make the lack of sub-levels beleivable, just a foggy day on Kamino :D

As far as music, perhaps you could use one of the in-game mp3s, renamed to "KaminoDuel.mp3" or something and included in the file, then those of us who have the soundtrack could put Jango's Escape in on our own computers, thus you wouldn't be distributing risky material :)

This thing is looking great so far, keep up the good work!

It's not like anyone from Lucas Licensing WATCHES these forums. But as soon as someone tells them to look, I don't want to deal with it. :p

End of story, I'm not putting the damn mp3 in, so drop it. :p

EDIT: And yes, I was considering that actually... Not sure how that would work for MP servers though... I think you wouldn't be able to hear the mp3 on pure servers but would on others... eh, I dunno. :) I will mess with it in the beta when I get to it.

And I dunno about fog... right now, if you toss someone off the edge, you can actually see them splash in the darkness, which I rather like. :)
