Hi,

In AToC, a jedi was forbidden to love, right ( Anakin and Amidala ). Then I dun understand why Luke Skywalker can marry Mara Jade, doesn't make sense, right?

Well it may have to do with the fact that when they got married Mara was a Jedi, but I don't really know.

Ah, cool. I never read the book where Mara and Luke get married, so I didn't know. What's the book called, btw?

 

I don't get the "jedi can't love" thing. There would certainly be a lot more Jedi around. I mean, Anakin married Amidala, who was not force-sensitive at all, and they had Luke and Leia, 2 VERY force proficient people. Then Leia married Han, who was not strong in the force, and they had force-ful kids. I guess the Jedi aren't supposed to have that kind of distraction.

The way I see it is this way,

 

That old Jedi idea was a flawed idea and so Luke mearly disavowed it.

It's not in any book...It is inferred in the Hand of Thrawn duology.

 

Luke proposes to Mara before their emenant death...but they are saved

 

Then in later books we have found out the wedding has taken place. In the comic series called Union it shows the marrage of Luke and Mara though...so if you want to check those out you'll have to order them online.

I was going to ask the same question except about han and leia because she trains tobe a jedi in the thrawn trilogy books

if i remeber right at the very end of the hand of thrawn set they do tell you about the wedding, not that you are there, but that luke will be going there soon...

Something like that Wraith. I just remember Luke proposing to Mara...I won't go into to details for those of you who havn't read that great duology. It's been a few years since I read it because I read them the week each of them came out:D
