Ok this model is gonna be really great, can't wait to see it all done. Dang, all that red tape stuff with your job has gotta suck. Well, can't wait for the model, and what kinda colors will you be using for the skin? Same ones as with MotS(Purple jacket with orange highlights, tan shirt and pants)?

Hey all.

BTW, Mara is looking GREAT!!

I saw a few of you were mentioning making a hair (or "other" body parts ;) that move and flow. Too bad that tutorial isn't going to happen.

I'm working on the Journey into the Dark mod for JK2 (a mod set in something like Tolkien's Silmarillion)

Here's an elven archer JackNeil is doing:

And here's a link to the elf I'm working on; she'll probably have a staff/spear and maybe a shortsword.

This is my first model - just got GMax in June, and now that I'm nearly done the modelling part, I have to do the bones, weighting, etc (ALL new to me).

I would REALLY LIKE to weight her hair like Lara Croft's pony-tail from TombRaider, but don't know how. Tim "SpaceMonkey" Appleby (of Aurra Sing, and Aayla fame) is also on the team, but he's sometimes hard to get a hold of. He used the arms/back/neck to weight the Lekku for Aayla, but I'm looking for something even MORE outstanding. Any ideas? Or links to tutorials? Thanks.

Doh! Been awhile since I've been on - had to troubleshoot my way through fdisking and formatting a new hard drive for the first time (more TROUBLE than anything)

Lol. . .. well. I guess I could have made a new thread, but I think it probably would have just gotten lost in the fray. I wanted the expertise of people already faced with the "weighting-hair" problem.

Call it what you will ;) but does anyone have any ideas about weighting the hair?

(BTW, I always save the polycount as part of the name; this one has 2262 polys now.)

Actually, it's not skinned in greyscale. It's not skinned at all yet. That's what's truly amazing. This is going to be one awesome model when it's finished and skinned, good enough to do Mrs. Jade Skywalker justice.

And looking at that last pic(Marasface) it seems as her neck is almost too long. I know that it was too short before, but perhaps shorten it just the teeniest, tiniest bit. Maybe remove just 1/10th or so of the neck, and I think it will look perfect in my opinion. Mara isn't a very tall woman, she's even shorter than Luke, so I don't think she would have a very long neck. But my perception may be different than everyone elses. It's just my opinion, so do with it what you deem necessary.

Wow, that face looks astoundingly real. I am wanting this model more and more :D

I do hope you include a surfce with her hair down with the flatter look. Even if you hate how it looks, I still want to make a skin of that new essential guide to characters pic some day(not that you have to model new hair just because I say so or anything).
