Qui Gonn

Vader could have still been in the suit.

Was Sifo-Dias Dooku's Jedi name? Coz it seems like Obiwan, Mace Windu and Yoda all seem to know who he is- but perhaps if Dooku is Sifo-Dias, maybe Obiwan thought he was killed/he died when he didn't really. You know kinda like the whole Anakin/Darth Vader thing when ObiWan says Darth Vader killed Anakin even though they were the same person, just that he went to the dark side.

There's no doubt that Qui Gonn must have some form of connection to the dark side, it's just whether it was intentional or not, like helping out his old master, thinking he was doing a right thing, when infact he wasn't really or something

Anakin dissapeard shortly after that scene in ROTJ ended - he was not in the suit when it was burned.... thats official according to GL and starwars.com;)

Perhaps Qui-Gons connection with the 'living' force blinded him from forseeing Dooku's plans...

This link:

http://www.starwars.com/community/askjc/jocasta/askjc20020606.html

...tells us that "Obi-Wan Kenobi never achieves the formal rank of Jedi Master."

And this link (referenced earlier in this thread):

http://www.starwars.com/community/askjc/steve/askjc20000131.html

...states the following: "...when Darth Vader sacrifices himself in the end to save his son, he too becomes one with the Force (it is his armor that burned in the Endor funeral pyre)."

Which tells us two things: 1) Vanishing into continued existence is caused by "becoming one with the force" (which we will find out more about in the future, evidently), and 2) Vader's suit was burned on Endor, not Anakin's body.

HTH.

So I was right about that become on ewith the force, as Obi mensions it to Luke, while explaining that Vader is in denile that death will make him stronger.

But what I don't understand is why his body disapeared late, and does metal burn.

I cannot understand fully the ready to die idea.

Qui-Gon did not die instantly. Remeber that Maul stabs him then Obi-Wan and Maul fight, Obi-Wan kills Maul and then Qui-Gon dies in the hands of Obi-Wan. Couldn't Qui-Gon prepare himself during the time he laid injured.

As someone above mentioned, Jedi Spirit is a rank that only the greatest of the jedi can achieve, after being for sometime Jedi masters.

Of course not all Jedi masters become Jedi Spirits, as not all Jedi Knights become Jedi Masters

Having said this there are two possibilities:

1. Qui-Gon is not one of the greatest Jedis and could not become a spirit

2. Qui-Gon did something wrong and the Force could not accept him as a spirit

Personally I prefer the second because from the first time I saw the movie I assumed that Qui-Gon is very wise and powerfull Jedi.

PS. Have you noticed that Yoda, Obi-Wan (and probably Anakin) dissapeared before they die, at least technically

I don't think being fully prepared to accept your death is something you can do on the spur of the moment. Qui-gon might be able to accept his death, but that doesn't mean that he was ready to let go of his life. Obiwan and Yoda were probably prepared to die for quite some time; so when their time came, they simply let themselves go. Qui-gon was dying, but he wasn't ready to die. He wanted to live on so he could take Anakin on as his padawan. Granted, we can't really see into the feelings of the characters (except maybe through the books, which I don't consider canon anyway), but basically I believe it's their attitudes towards dying which determines whether they are able to join with the force. (Granted, I also believe the individual has to be powerful to accomplish the feat, but then I agree that Qui-gon probably was powerful enough...)

wow..............the relevance that has to what we're actually talking about is.........around.........0............ first of all, we were talking about Jedi and when and how and why the join with the force......secondly,

if your a sith, your explode,
And why do you explode? If you mean that you explode when you die.....then we have only seen one sith that "Exploded" as the emperor did when he was thrown down the reactor shaft......but Darth Maul was chopped in half by Obi-Wan....he was a sith, and he did not explode...

So if you kill a bunch of siths , it would look like the 4th of july?

HEH , I had to get 1 in :D

Anyhow that purposterous. Sidious looked like he exploded cause of all the dark energy he was emiting. Before he died he probably gave a final force blast and he died with the outburst of dark energy.

Back to the subject. I dont think meditate is the only thing you´ll have to do to become one with the force, because that sounds ridicolous. Only jedi masters can become one with the force, and i think that they must have fulfilled all their duties, as someone before me said earlier in this thread.

Anyway, that is what i think.

Obi-Wan was not a jedi master....he never achieved the rank of jedi master, and so being a master isn't entirely necisary. I agree you must be fairly powerful with the force, but i think that a jedi knight can become one with the force.

And we heard QuiGon's voice in AOTC.....which is odd....i know i've said that it could be a vision of the past...but i dont really believe myself. I think QuiGon has joined, which begs the question of why he didn't disappear.

Its kind of ridiculous to think that you have to be a jedi master to join with the force. I mean, Qui Gon probably should have been made a Jedi Master and been part of the council, but some disagreed with him. That doesn't mean he isn't good enough to join with the force.

Also, the weird al song "the saga begins" clearly indicates that Qui Gon becomes a ghost, which must mean he appears to living people like other jedi. Ok don't even bother reading that last part it has no relevance it is a stupid song by weird al.

No no, wait a second, I think you're on to something. Weird Al would know, wouldn't he? :) As for Qui-gon's rank, according to the starwars.com databanks, he was a Jedi Master.

I still becoming one with the Force has to go with whether or not you're prepared to let go of your life. If you're not prepared, but you are powerful enough, then maybe the tradition is to release the spirit to the Force by burning the shell which houses it.

My boyfriend pointed out that Sifa-Dias is Qui Gonn's Jedi Council name before he was kicked off the council (I must admit I didn't realize he actually was on the council at some point) which explains the look of almost horror/surprise on Obi Wan's face when the Kamino Prime Minister says the order was placed by a Jedi Master Sifa-Dias (coz obviously Obi-Wan must have known that Qio Gonn was kicked off the council) which why when he asks Windu and Yoda he was under the impression he died before that (considering Qui Gonn died 10years ago roughly and so did Sifa-Dias according to ObiWan)

Wow umm...that isn't exactly true :D Sifo-Dias and Qui-Gon are two different Jedi...

And in Episode II you hear Qui-Gon saying "No, Anakin, no!" implying that Qui-Gon doesn't like Anakin going off to the Dark Side...hmmz

There are rumours of Qui-Gon appearing in EP3 as a spirt guide. (Like Obi-Wan did to Luke in ESB)

GL himself has said (in an interview with Time magazine) that it's very significant that Qui-Gon did not disappear after death, but Obi-Wan, Yoda and Anakin did. EP3 will reveal most, if not all, though.
