And we have baseball, no recreations there!

rugby and american football have the same objective, get an oval sized ball to the opposite side...and baseball comes from cricket, to hit a ball with a bat as far as you can.

Don't even get me started on the so-called world series, yeah that really is an international event?!?!?!?

Ah, but it is fool, it is.:tsk:

Last time i checked Canada is still a country...a cold, icey, artic, penguin filled country, but a country none the less. :D

Although that could have changed, but i don't think the Canadians would be very happy.

sorry to correct.

Yup, your right, UK din't really invent the first car. Daimler invented the gas engined production car. Nicolaus August Otto invented the concet of the gas powered car in 1876. However it wasn't the first car, steam and electricity had been used before.Karl Benz is credited with the first prototype. He also didn't paitent the first petrol engined car, that was Jean Joseph Etienne Lenoir (well, the first one that worked). But the basis for all cars is George Stephenson, and his rocket (the first train) it ran on rails (obviously) but his inital plan was for the road, he later managed that creating the first protype road going version.

Yes, well done, the Greeks invented the concept of Democracy. But we founded the first state that used democracy with the signing of the Magna Carta. I didn't say we invented it.

And who invented the phone, it may have been Antonio

Meucci. But the technology was a simple adaption of Bells telegraph, so it really is Bell's invention. Whichever way you look at it, Bell registered his invention before Meucci. Incidentally Bell also invented the first Fax using the telegraph technology. Antonio

Meucci was really just second guessing what Bell was developing next.

But all that doesnt change the fact that we invented the Jelly Baby. Which is one of the biggest developements in modern times.
