Psionic Jedi
Is it just me, or are enemy pain sounds drowned out by your own pain sounds? The patch readme said the pain sounds now register correctly, but the "correctness" must mean your character yells at -1hp (saber touch) and doesn't when a Strong swing impacts the abdomen. All you hear is the singeing sound and nothing more... Your character goes into a screaming frenzy when being impaled by an idle saber but stifles it when he's being impaled by the medium finisher blade............. Usually when i hear lots of sparks i know my hit got him, but i'm tired of it... when can we count on yells, shouts, screams of agony to tell pain? Prime
I agree 100%. The first time I tried 1.04 against bots, I thought I was getting my ass kicked from all the screaming my guy was doing. Then I realized that I had only lost 7hp and was still over 100. Also, when you are in a saber lock I found that you constantly are screaming, even though you aren't losing any hp. Anyone else have this happen to them?
QuietSith
"Corrected issue which caused pain sounds not to play properly when hit by opponents. Pain sounds should now be relative to the amount of damage taken. " http://www.shacknews.com/finger/?fid=khoekstra@ravensoft.com
C'jais
Though I don't hear my character yell when in a saberlock, he does scream like a baby when merely being touched for 1 hp damage like you guys said. The thing is, I think that the painsounds were a lot better in 1.03. In v4 you merely confuse yourself by yelling from harmless hits. But maybe.... Maybe the character does the correct amount of screaming relative to the damage, on *the other side of the duel*! I dunno, but perhaps your enemy won't be hearing all the screaming from glancing hits and only recieve the "right screaming"?. Vice versa for your own hits inflicted upon the enemy? "Corrected issue which caused pain sounds not to play properly when hit by opponents. Pain sounds should now be relative to the amount of damage taken. " Does not seem to be the case based on situations where I have taken minimal or no damage but sounds are screaming away. Guess it will just take some getting used to. QuietSith
Do you notice it with EAX on or off? I prefer EAX myself. Creative is coming up with new drivers for the SB Live and Audigy, which give hardware acceleration to OpenAL (which JK 2 uses). It might be an EAX issue. I've also noticed the Audigy drivers play EAX much more realistically than the Live! ones. But that may change soon, with the new releases, hopefully. If you aren't using a Creative card, you may want to try lowering sound accel (multimedia properities in Windows) down a notch. I believe Sensaura has some issues with one of their protocols that cause sounds to magnify real loud when close by - sorry I forget the actual term.
