Exar Kun II
Originally posted by setsuko Haha, everytime I hear things like this, I am surprised by the sillyness of americans Here, we have had DVD casings for game for more than a year. I think Black and White was the first game I bought in a dvd case. But seriously, hopefully you will get dvd casings for your games soon too. It kicks ass. *looks at her bookcase*. Yup. You don't have to put all of them in the basement, you can have them available without taking up a couple of square meters of space. EDIT: though, this doesn't go for all games. For instance, my copy of CIV III was in a cardboard box. Smaller than usual, yes, but still a box. So there is still room from improvements. That's the part I don't understand either. We package console games in the DVD cases, why not the PC games as well?
Ewok Hunter
I'd like cases for the CDs period. NWN had 3 CDs that were all in those paper sleves *grrr*

Kiedo
I dunno whether you guys realised, but the official FAQ claims that the manual should be at least 100 pages long.
Ewok Hunter
only 100, pages? if the pages are typical manual size then it should have at least 150 to explain basic game running plus a comprehensive in-game tutorial. NWN's manual was more than 200 pages long and provided less information on how to play the game than the in-game tutorial...
setsuko
Yes, those D&D games sure have big manuals. "hmm... lists of all 5893 spells, pages 34-156... let's see... that must be volume III. Jeeves, can you get it for me? It should be somewhere in the east wing, next to the Harpoon manuals."
Thew Rydur
I'd like to put in my 2 cents on this topic. First of all I like the big boxes. I myself have been pissed lately about all of these new little boxes. Wheres the fun in those. Not half as many little ads and mail-in things. Smaller manuals. Some may say think about the trees. I say **** the trees! Long live big boxes!!!
<|WoV|>Shade
LOL!!! nice I dont really have an opinion on the bow size... But I do like the smaller boxes cuz it saves me sum space for my already large comp gaming section
"thA dekMan"
ya and smaller plastic boxes u can still fit fairly big manuals in there. Plus they look so much more cleaner and neat.
YourGod
the manual will be a 100 pages? is there an abridged version or sumthin? the game sounds great & all....but so much work involved...i know i'm jus a lazy bitch...but really, can't we jus put it in, install & play? - reading's no fun, i already got enuf w/skool
setsuko
YourGod, with that spelling, you should get even more busy at 'skool'! j/k Of course it will have a big manual. But that doesn't mean you will have to read it to be able to play. I have yet to see a game where you have to read the entire manual to be able to play. However, MMORPGs have a lot of written commands, and it's very useful to have them written down. All the emotes, PA commands, etc. So a manual is handy. And if you have never played a MMORPG before, there's a lot of things that you will have to learn, either the hard way by playing the game, or the easy way, by reading the manual. RobBisec
The box kind of reminds me of Jacens vision in balance point with the galaxy tipping toward the dark side . I have to admit it is pretty plain but it does do the job.

SpaceButler
I don't think the box really matters.. we ALL know what's in it. That Star wars emblem is equal to "ch-ching" anyway (as long as teh phrase ":racer" and "Jedi power battles" don't follow, and even adding the letters MMO or RPG anywhere on the box.. well, you might as well put the register next to the display and save everyone the 3 second transit time. Then again.. in 5 years how many "cons" will be selling 'Mint" and "Near Mint" Star Wars: Galaxies boxes..?
RoyalGuard
Simple, tells you all you need to know.. nuff said. It's a box people, it's not all that important to people who are going to buy the game whatever! P.S. I like manuals over adobe pdfs, I like something I can refer to in game while I'm learning it's ins and outs, and I don;t like printing it out onto my paper (using my precious ink cartridges!)
