Yes the fee will be there and Im thankfull.

One it means that aslong as people play then the game will stay good becuase it has a constant inful of cash. And also it will keep all hte n00bs and little kids that are just munshkins off. May sound harsh but it does make sense at least to me.

Think of the fee as property taxes, like you pay on a home that is fully paid for. The money goes toward maintenance of the servers and keeps the game moving along. Also, let's be realistic. Do you really think that Lucasarts and Sony poured millions of dollars of development and thousands of hours of time into this game to then operate it at a loss of profit? I think not.:D

Perhaps they could get money from selling the game alone, even if mmorpgs have horrific development costs. But that would mean no upkeep, and no good servers. And people would cheat the hell out of the game, since there would be impossible to check for cheaters, or do something when you find them. Given that, I think the cost is definately worth not playing a rpg version of "WallHack-Strike".

Exactly. Like Norin Radd said, property taxes. :D

Well said, Sckitzo!!

I totally agree with you; It WILL keep out the little ones who dont really know whats going on and kinda ruin the fun for those of us who DO know how and WANT to play!!

:slsaber:

--->i mean that sorta ruined the fields of norrath on EQ...constant looting other bodies and corpse guarding by n00bs who thought they could gain EXP and looooooooot from the dead corpse :p

Remember, ewok hunter, there's two kinds of newbies:

A) The "I'm just bought the game, and don't know the controls" kind of newbie. These are the ones who after a week or two are totally assimilated into the community, who are willing to learn, and knows when to shut the **** up when they are annoying.

B) The "I thought this was a FPS/RTS, and therefor will use my account to annoy the hell out of my surroundings". These are the dark ones. The spammers. The brats with numbers in their names on the RPG-only servers of DAoC. The enemy.

Oh, and perhaps there's one more:

C) The "Not meaning harm, but really, really dumb* newbies. These are seldom a problem, and are best either carefully tutored, or avoid.

True, we r all gonna be newbs at it unless we DO get the beta...and i hope to god that i get it and none of u =P (j/king btw)

I hope we all get the beta hehe.

But ya the N00b with the numbers in his name should be shot and taken to a 48-hour long tutorial on how to be a better MMORPG'er.

:deathstar:

+BOOM=

Thats the reason why most games have secluded areas that you would need to either be a badass fighter or have some really good bodyguards to get to. So you don't have to socialise with the worst of them. Train a rancor and keep him as a watchdog outside your town, just to make sure no 'unfitting' people enter :)

i don't mean 2 piss any1 off here...but why do we have these threads? i mean, we all know that everyone @ this forum is going to buy the game unless it's at sum unreasonable price (the poll alone proves that if you couldn't tell on ur own)...i mean, really, why would anyone be here otherwise?

but go on w/ur conversation...:)

I'm not rich so I don't want to pay too much per month.

[sarcasticTypeRant]Sorry all you rich folks who forget most people earn less than you. If you want to change that give to the poor then we can all play SWG.[/sarcasticTypeRant]

Monthly fee is such a big deal to many because we don't want to pay too much. Hence the discussion. No doubt SWG willl be a great game. But if I can't afford to play it then I won't. Simple as that.

FunClown, I am sure as HECK not rich...

I could probably be one the poorest ppl in the Midwest by all standards..but i am still gonna get SWG=)

but back to the fee, it will only be $10-$15 a month depending on your location and even then it wont waver too far from what u orignally pay.(If at all...)
