Doubleplus GC Posted August 7, 2002 Posted August 7, 2002 WARNING: Contains Absolutely Nothing Even Remotely Close To A Spoiler A CLASSIC RETURNS -- LUCASARTS REVS UP FULL THROTTLE® FOR LONG AWAITED SEQUEL Acclaimed Classic Adventure Roars Back to Action on Next Generation Consoles and PC in 2003 SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- May 21, 2002 -- Full Throttle, one of the most loved classic adventures from LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC, returns in a long awaited action packed sequel for next generation consoles and PC in 2003. The follow up to the award winning game from 1995 will once again feature one of LucasArts' most popular and enduring characters, the swaggering outlaw biker Ben, leader of a renegade motorcycle gang called the Polecats. The free wheeling action-adventure will offer a humorous original story, furious bare knuckle fighting, and the thrill of high speed biking. "Full Throttle is one of LucasArts' greatest and most beloved original games," says Simon Jeffery, president of LucasArts. "We can't think of a better brand or character to lead LucasArts' charge into a new era of original game development. Ben so perfectly symbolizes our legacy and yet has just the right mix of attitude and edge to appeal to a new generation of game players." Good thing they're not giving anything away.
C Shutt Posted August 7, 2002 Posted August 7, 2002 2D is dead, Roachy. Time to join the 21st century.
Alien426 Posted August 7, 2002 Posted August 7, 2002 There's a trailer or rather a teaser somewhere, but the link is buried somewhere in the General Discussion forum of MixNMojo. I'd love to play a new 2D game. Let's face it, once LucasArts made the jump to SVGA it lasted only one game (The Curse Of Monkey Island) before they moved to 3D graphics. I imagine an adventure like CMI with true color (CMI had some weird limit to the number of colors) and at least 800x600 pixels. Interface: MI2, Full Throttle or CMI
Doubleplus GC Posted August 8, 2002 Author Posted August 8, 2002 What with cell shadings, it seems that the new goal is to make 3D characters who look as 2D as physically possible, as 3D looks pretty junky unless it's really high poly-count.
chrisakachris Posted August 9, 2002 Posted August 9, 2002 At first I thought, "Action packed? Are they turning this into a First Person Scooter?", and then I remembered the actual game.

Doubleplus GC Posted August 23, 2002 Author Posted August 23, 2002 PCGamer released a "first screens" article on FT2. It's completely 3D, and Ben has some sort of Billy Idol sneer on his face at all times. Seriously, who does he think he is, Elvis? But, to avoid unnecessary cynicism, all will be forgiven if the game is good.
Alien426 Posted August 28, 2002 Posted August 28, 2002 Sam & Max 2! The press release says it "will dispatch the Freelance Police into a wild world of screwy and vaguely quixotic missions. Each one will be jam packed with nerve-jangling action, brain-busting puzzles" - this makes me fear it will not be all that much adventury as the Mix guys think.
Moon Roach Posted August 29, 2002 Posted August 29, 2002 I can't wait for Sam & Max 2! I hope it's not 3D.
chrisakachris Posted September 1, 2002 Posted September 1, 2002 The multitude of sequels troubles me.
ivaj Posted September 2, 2002 Posted September 2, 2002 Cel-shading would be the best choice, since it provides clarity, and awesome visuals.
Doubleplus GC Posted September 22, 2002 Author Posted September 22, 2002 Well yeah, cell shadings look almost as cool as actual cell animation. What the hell is the point?
