Protest in Oregon

All day, I've been reading things about what happened in Portland, Oregon, yesterday at a protest. I've been reading not only the reports on the news outlets, but also eye-witness accounts. This amazing event has been greatly downplayed, so far. It is nothing less than an infringment of First Amendment Rights on the part of the Oregon police.

Though this was an anti-Bush protest, what it signifies should frighten us all. When police, unprovoked, use violence--excessive violence--against a peaceful assembly (there were no reports at all of crowd violence, anti-Bush slogan shouting, yes, a few reports of people tagging in a crowd that ranged anywhere from 2,000 to 5,000 people and included both the elderly, disabled people and parents with their children...) of people who were well within their constitutional rights, it effects all Americans.

I wish the united states didnt have the stupid constitution, any people that were gunned down deserved every bullet in their bodies and probably deserved a few more than that. you cant defy the leader of the country, the fools tried to pepper spray him. If i was in oregon id gun those mother ****ers down with any weapon i could get my hands on and id never look back, even if i was arrested. The US millitary should drop bombs on them, 5000 people would die with one bomb, thered be some collateral damage, but atleast we killed those criminalistic fools. Your rights as a citizen should be revoked and you should be treaten like the moron you are, for however little more you live. The angry mob should have their citizenship revoked for 20 years after they get out of prison and a 40 year sentence, unde accomplance to murder of a leader. No joke, this is what i think, portland should be turned into a millitary state and the people involved should be elliminated.

1. Uh...as far as I know the president isnt supposed to be God. Not everybody has to like him,just as long as they dont try to attack the president.he is elected president by the citizens. The ones who were protesting were proboly Democrats or supporters of third partys.

2. Last I checked,it aint a death row captiliasm offense for not liking the president,and IMO it shoudlnt.

3. They pepper sprayed the president?I thought the police pepper sprayed the protesters for protesting.

Nobody pepper-sprayed the president, or tried to, I haven't heard that anywhere; it's completely without foundation.

 

Also, the protest has been in the news, just not covered well. It definately happened and there was definately violence on the part of the police. I haven't heard any details coming from the major media outlets, but I have read dozens of reports from eye-witnesses and they all say that there was no provocation. The police even sprayed the news people (in violation of a standing agreement the Portland Police made with the local media). Basically, some seemed not to care who or what they hit (even if they were children and babies).

At this point I'd like some kind of reassurance from any or all USA citizens in this forum that CagedCrado is the only of his kind in USA, thank you.

First, I would believe this story, almost everywhere the police is too friggin jumpy when it comes to protests, they hit too fast and too hard.

 

Second, why would they do that to a crowd of anti-president people?! Have people no rights to like who they want? Bush is a huge ***, it's plain that people would demonstrate him... This is just another display of how corrupt it all is...

 

Third, people like CagedCrado here are just the reason why people dont like the VS, people with other thoughts than your own shouldn't be gunned down, unfortunately, in the VS, having your own opinion often leads to being cast out of some group, either in school, neighbourhood or whatever... it's sick...

I'd just like to make a couple points.

 

1) If there had been any violence againse Bush, don't you think that this would be everywhere? The reason why the demonstration is not being covered is because they don't want to put the spotlight on an event of police brutality against a mass of peaceful protesters.

 

2) Yes, the site is called http://www.democraticunderground.com, but I directed you to a post on their message boards. The poster doesn't work for the webpage, anymore than I work for Lucasforums. But he was at the demonstration... just because he chose to post on a website where the majority of people are Democrats so that he would get a little support after his harrowing experience, doesn't mean that his testimony should be discounted.
