Tolkien...I think there's been more than enough support for him in this thread so I find it unnecessary to express my predilection for his works.

 

The Dragonlance novels are also quite high on my list.

 

Anything by Tom Clancy is always good.

 

Searching for Dragons and its subsequent sequels by Patricia C. Wrede are humorous and witty.

I've been ranting about "Wheel of Time" and I'll think I'll rant about it some more. ;)

 

It is the greatest fantasy ever written. If you like Toilken or Dragonlance, Wheel of Time will blow you away. It realy is THAT good.

Best book i read was - the old man and the sea, by hemmingway, its superb deservedly a classic.

 

Other than that I loved Clockwork orange by Anthony Burgess, takes two reads to get yer head around the lingo though.

All 4 harry potter books.
