Lightsaberboy
wow. that's....long. i just open the console and type g_synchronousClients 1, then i type set dem <demo name> then record dem, then when i want to stop i say stoprecord. for screenshots just open the console and type /bind <key> screenshot. then just hit that key whenever and it'll take a pic. SkinWalker
you can also use the command cl_avidemo ## where ## is fps, this will deposit ## of jpegs per second in your screenshots folder and you can link these together to make an avi video It's best to do this *after* you've created a demo and while running it, though. Once you do this, you'll understand what I'm saying. The demo slows down significantly and looks very choppy while the screenshots are being saved. Try cl_avidemo 30. I had the best results with this framerate. Then use a program called JPEGVideo (I believe it's freeware) to link them together to form an AVI. I created a movie that was fun to watch, but extremely HUGE (30 MB). I put the AVIs that I created in Adobe Premiere then added some video clips from the original movies along with a soundtrack. The video lasts about 5 min. If anyone knows where I can post this on the net to link to it, I'd be happy to upload it, but I haven't been able to find a server that will let me have more than about 20 MB without charging (even my own ISP) extra. You can search on WinMX for "JediOne" and you may find it. I keep it in my share directory. SkinWalker
Lightsaberboy
maybe you can send the file to jediknightii.net and we can all dl it and watch it for ourselves...

thehomicidalegg
the long string is there so you can easily record 20 demos in a row.
Break_dF
Maybe it was just me, but you weren't very clear on your post. How exactly do you go about saving jpegs from a pre-recorded demo?...I see the lag problem and I'm not really coming up w/ anyway around it. If you could give this editing noob some detailed instructions it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks bro.
SkinWalker
Maybe it was just me, but you weren't very clear on your post. How exactly do you go about saving jpegs from a pre-recorded demo?.. After recording a demo, go back and watch it like you would any other demo. During the playback (or just before loading it), bring down the console and type in "/cl_avidemo ##" without the quotes. In place of "##" use a number like 30. I find that 30 is a good framerate and it'll give a decent playback after you compile the avi. If this doesn't work, try without the "/" .... I can't remember if I used it or not. To stop/abandon the screenshot write process, simply escape out of the demo. During the screenshot write process, the playback will be VERY laggy or choppy. This is normal and should be expected. Go watch TV or have fun on the PlayStation.... come back in an hour or so (depending on the length of the demo). After playing the demo and using cl_avidemo, exit JK2 and look in the /gamedata/base/screenshots directory. You should notice several hundred to several thousand screenshots. I used JPGVideo (a freeware prog... do a Google search) to compile an AVI format video, then Adobe Premiere (a free trial for 30 days) to mix/compile several AVI's to music, then export to the Codec of your choice (i.e. DiVx, RealMedia, WMA, etc.). Good luck... if there's anything else I can do, feel free to ask.... either here or via PM. Ciao SkinWalker
thehomicidalegg
cl_avidemo 0 stops it taking screenshots. you can have 2 key binded so that one is o and other is what ever fpa you want. then you can pick the segment you want.
