The Count Posted October 7, 2002 Posted October 7, 2002 You know the Dark Forces game that came with it does it play on Windows?
acdcfanbill Posted October 7, 2002 Posted October 7, 2002 It sort of plays on windows XP, of course, if you have 98 installed, your good to go...
The Count Posted October 7, 2002 Author Posted October 7, 2002 You mean all the sounds and everything works aswell? cool!
The Count Posted October 8, 2002 Author Posted October 8, 2002 I have the original Dark Forces but it only runs on MSDOS is there anywhere I can download it cus I really want to play DF right now and I can't be bothered to wait for the MOD.
teleguy Posted October 8, 2002 Posted October 8, 2002 Sorry, I thought you are looking for DOS , since you already have DF . Is the collectors edition Df a different version than the original one? I remember that I played the DF demo long time ago and I had no problem running it in Win 95 .
Kurgan Posted October 8, 2002 Posted October 8, 2002 I'm assuming it comes with the "win95/98" version of Dark Forces, which was released a few years ago. Basically its identical to the MS-DOS CD-ROM version, except that it has a win9x launcher. For me, it only worked if you installed the game in the default directory (Ie: c:\dark\). Kinda crappy if you ask me, if you'd already bought the game once... there's no point in getting this one specially.
The Count Posted October 8, 2002 Author Posted October 8, 2002 Yeah I probably couldn't get it either that's why I want to download it something to keep me tied over for till the MOD.
Kurgan Posted October 8, 2002 Posted October 8, 2002 In a sense, the only difference between Win9x DF and DoS DF is the inclusion of an icon file (of a red stormtrooper head), an exe file (the launcher) and a text file explaining how to use the launcher. That's IT. The DoS version worked for me on Win2K pro, with or without the launcher. I just needed to follow the trouble-shooting to install it correctly (before I could only play it without sound).
