SP Map Timeframe

Just wondering what sort of Star Wars era would you like top see custom SP maps made in.

 

I tackled the original trilogy in my JK/MotS editing days, that's why my upcoming level I'm making is going to be set in the prequel era.

Interesting one...I guess before the prequels gives you the most creative room to manouver as accuracy to characters, locations etc isn't a problem. During the prequels and the originals both give you some interesting characters and situations to play with, and after the originals lets you continue the story of Kyle or someone from that time if you so wish. I guess the new republic takes the least effort to do (hence why most maps are set in this time) and before the prequels maybe takes the most imagination. During the prequels or originals probably takes the most effort all round! That's my rather long winded take on it anyway :)Personally, I'd love to see some maps from during the imperial era, and some from before the prequels!

I'd say it depends on the type of gameplay. If you're going for shooting only, i'd say go for Original Trilogy. There's just something about shooting Stormtroopers that feels so good.

 

If there is gonna be any Jedi action in there, I prefer the Prequels. There's a lot of interesting Jedi to choose from and it's a lot easier to think up Dark Jedi's(not Sith, only 2 there are ). All those Jedi give you a lot of room to think up a story that's outside the trilogies.

 

Personally i liked the gameplay of JK2, but the Dark Jedi Characters were pretty boring to me. I prefer the more colorful Jedi characters of the prequels.

 

Plus the prequels is what is in our minds right now, with the movies still coming out. We had almost 20 years to play in the original trilogy universe. Time for something new.

I think the term Dark Jedi is retarded. There's no such thing. If they're a Jedi, they're light-aligned. If they're not light-aligned, they're not Jedi. Seems simple to me.

 

I agree that the prequels is where its at... and while I haven't been playing in the OT for 20 years (I was born the year after Empire came out in theatres) I've been that dreary world long enough to know that something more imaginative like the prequels is the way to go. My 2 cents.

I agree with you, but what else should they be then. They can't be Sith because there are supposed to be only 2. The term Dark Jedi has been used a lot, so i'll just use that until something better comes along.

I voted for New Republic era, because the characters from the books are all so interesting. What I really want though, and what I intended my vote to be cast for, was my imaginary category of a Single Player New Jedi Order Mod that doesn't suck. One made be intelligent people with very good reading comprehension and an extensive collection of books, to make everything true to how it should be. That would just be too fun. Warriors who the Force can't affect, voxyn (created from vornskrs) that can hunt Jedi through the Force, screech loud enough to knock them out, and spit acid! And the spines on their back have poison on them. Thud bugs would replace stormtroopers blasters, and razor bugs would be for the more powerful weapons, since they don't just blow through your leg or knock you down, they cut off your face! Unh! I would love this mod. There'd have to be a new Force power, or else let you use push to hit enemies with things, because that's really the only way you can affect them with the Force -- throw ****.

 

EDIT: Oh yeah, and Yuuzhan Vong amphistaffs are just as sharp as lightsabers, can block lightsabers, can be used as whips, and also shoot poison. Their vonduun crab armor is as lightsaber resistant as the armor of the shadowtroopers, but it has weak spots: joints, and a lung for the living armor (everything the Yuuzhan Vong use is living) that can be punctured, causing the warrior wearing the armor to suffocate when the armor dies. If someone makes this mod, I'll crap my pants.

Why not just call them what they are - force users. The same way they can't be Sith because there's only 2, they can't be Jedi because they don't follow the code.
