megacles Posted October 15, 2002 Posted October 15, 2002 It used to be hosted on Mojo but it doesnt seem to be any more. Is the project still going or did it die out? If it did that's a pity, it was looking very good.
jannar85 Posted October 15, 2002 Posted October 15, 2002 It went dead a long time ago. There IS other good engines tho. Like GLUMOL, AGS, SLUDGE, RoBot and some others... I'd recommend you towards AGS though, and it's located @ http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk
megacles Posted October 15, 2002 Author Posted October 15, 2002 What is sludge? I havnt heard of that one
jannar85 Posted October 15, 2002 Posted October 15, 2002 I haven't tried SLUDGE that much. AGS is for everyone, and it's quite easy for newbies.
ptdc Posted October 15, 2002 Posted October 15, 2002 A problem with a lot of adventure game engines is that they're not really finished and the documentation isn't very good. AGS looks ok but I haven't really used it much. Sludge is fairly good, but it's not for beginners, it's not free and the documentation is a bit incomplete.
Erwin_Br Posted October 15, 2002 Posted October 15, 2002 I use SLUDGE. I've tried AGS too, but it's not my (blue) cup of tea. Maybe that's because I'm not comfortable with non-windows IDE's. --Erwin
ptdc Posted October 15, 2002 Posted October 15, 2002 The latest version uses windows. I'm going to take a look at it because it looks more finished than Sludge. The only problem is I'll have to convert my .tga pictures to .pcx, yuck.
jannar85 Posted October 16, 2002 Posted October 16, 2002 Hehe PTDC, I've told you that I could convert everything for you - free of charge. Just tell me, and I'll do it.
elTee Posted October 16, 2002 Posted October 16, 2002 ROBOT is easy to use. The much forgotten about Monkey Island Explorer is being made with that - and also a version with AGS. Check out a download on the ROBOT site!
jannar85 Posted October 17, 2002 Posted October 17, 2002 I don't like RoBot because it keeps the source open to everyone... That's the only problem with it. It's a good engine tho...
