Kengo
I managed to get by on the very generous 5MB attachment limit on Lycos mail up to now, but the beta version of Medieval comes in at 4.94MB, which is pushing it.... There are some great maps out there well beyond this in size, just wondering how you guys go about sending files this big? Also wondering if someone could point out a good way of putting files up for download instead of having to email them to beta testers who will probabaly have the same file limit problems as me. Andy867
There is actually a good chance Kengo that the file, evne though it reads at 4.94MB, will be too large to send. I say this because there is some kind of cap or something or extra coding written into every outgoing mail that tells the email system how to send the attachment, and so for like every 2Mb file, an additional 1or so MB will be attached to keep the file intact. So when you think you are sending 4.94 MB, it is in reality, close to 7MB. Just something to think about. I know, it sucks! I've had plenty of emails returned about how they exceeded the file size limit, etc.
Kengo
Ouch! And I thought it was perilous to the edge, sounds more like it's miles over.... Hmmm, I guess that shows I DEFINATELY need to find another way to send files

UltimateZeus
I uploaded my map and sent 3 links to massassi and they don't care. They didn't even try to get it. They just sent an e-mail saying send my e-mail.
Leslie Judge
You will need to set up your own SMTP server. It's not too hard and you can find shareware/freeware ones. Don't ask for a link, I don't know them.

I noticed there are some pretty hefty files on massassi.net, so some people must have some damn good email accounts. That's a fairly inflexible approach, not everyone has a big email account. Manquesa
well pcgamemods.com (formerly jedioutcastmaps.com) now offers a direct upload option as opposed to sending the file via email. Submit your map there. Jk2files.com has been talking about doing that for what seems like forever, but as far as I know it still has yet to be implemented.
