Purple_Tentacle
how many of you thought that the "clone wars " was going to involve the cloneing of jedis / sith ? i sure did.
Admiral Vostok
Well I always assumed the Jedis would be fighting AGAINST an army of clones. I mean traditionally clones have not been good guys... although they will eventually become stormtroopers so I guess it all works out in the end. I had thought (don't know where I got this from) that one of the factions fighting in the clone wars were the mandalorians. I think maybe some out-dated EU stuff said that. Anyway, the fact that the clones are cloned from a guy who fought with the mandalorians ties everything together nicely, which I think was George's goal. Qui-Gon Jinn 64
I was thinking along the lines of Darth Sidious finding part of Darth Maul, cloning him and creating an army of Sith Lord's. Although the amount of problems with this would be astronomical, I simply wondered why Darth Maul was introduced only to be sliced in half. He was a great villian, and to simply kill him off at the end of Episode I was a bit wrong, in my opinion. To see Darth Maul escape and return to fight another day would have been amazing! I do think the clone army is amazing, however, and Jango Fett is a worthy host to the Republic's armed forces.
Purple_Tentacle
yeah i think the way it ended up was great, i have been wondering about the clone wars since i was a kid. I simply wondered why Darth Maul was introduced only to be sliced in half. He was a great villian, and to simply kill him off at the end of Episode I was a bit wrong, in my opinion. well exactly the same thing happens in ANH with Tarkin, he was a great baddy. Qui-Gon Jinn 64
Yes, but Tarkin wasn't a major bad guy. How many Imperial officers died throughout the films? Tarkin, Piett, Ozzel, Veers, Jejerodd, they all were expendable officers who died in the line of duty. Darth Maul, like Vader, Tyranus and Sidious, was a major player in the events of the galaxy, being only one of two people using the dark side of the Force and being ultimately powerful. I did like Tarkin, but Maul is much more than him.
Jedi_Monk
I'm gonna disagree... you have to look at the impact of Tarkin in a movie that was meant to be able to stand alone. Tarkin actually commanded Vader. Tarkin says "Vader, release him," and Vader releases him. Tarkin was the highest ranking person there, as Vader was obviously under his command! Princess Leia said it: "Governor Tarkin, I should have expected to find you here holding Vader's leash!" Tarkin was the one who gave the order to destroy Alderaan. Tarkin was the one who ordered Vader to kill Leia (Vader convinced him not to). Tarkin was the one who had the big guns pointed straight at Yavin IV while Vader was outside in a little TIE Fighter chasing Rebels--and, in fact, Vader's role in the final battle was largely nullified by Han Solo shooting him. Luke was racing against Tarkin. Watching ANH in the proper context, Tarkin was presented as the primary villain.
ET Warrior
I agree with Jedi Monk here for sure. Tarkin WAS a major bad guy. Darth Maul was a lot less significant. He barely had a role in episode 1. He was just there to show the rise of the darkside and palpatine.
Taos
I also thought the clone wars would involve cloning jedi and sith.........I think it's pretty cool what happens and the story of how the stormtroopers came to be!
Purple_Tentacle
so what do you think happens with the clones ? are the stormtroopers clones ? or did clone production stop and the empire start enlisting normal people?
Taos
Hmmm, I kinda thought that it was obvious the stormtroopers came from the clones......now I'm confused a little.
Qui-Gon Jinn 64
Think along the lines of Adolf Hitler here: The SA were Hitler's troops for many years, and helped him rise to power. However, when Hitler was firmly in place as German dictator, he destroyed all the SA officers in a drastic event called "The Night of the Long Knives". The SA were replaced by the SS, Hitler's brand new armed forces who swore to die for the new leader. The reason the SA were wiped out was Hitler being extra-careful, wanting to remove all evidence of his scheming during his rise to power. Palpatine will do the same. Using the Clonetroopers for the majority of Episode III, I think he will return to Kamino and create the new Stormtrooper army, before returning to Coruscant and wiping out the Clonetroopers, destroying the last evidence of the daed Republic. The Stormtroopers will be delivered, brand spanking new and ready to kill some people somewhere... history always repeats itself... I can hear the Imperial March drifting into the room... Purple_Tentacle
i read someone's idea somewhere that the kamino cloners would be attacked to stop production, this could force the empire to start enlisting people. i like it whatever happens i want the original stormtroopers to be regular joes that signed up, not dumbed down jango clones. Qui-Gon Jinn 64
If they are all "regular joes" that sign up to the Empire, how do you explain the fact that they are exactly the same height, humanoid and sound alike, eh? Clones, the stormtroopers will be.
ET Warrior
actually, if you watch ANH when the falcon is brought into the deathstars landing bay you'll notice that they are not identical heights......humanoid makes sense because the empire seems to be anti-alien in nature and the sounds could be generated by their helmets to reduce individuality. Purple_Tentacle
storm troopers dont wear clone trooper armour. maybe because of advances in armour technology maybe because they are storm-troopers, not clone-troopers.
Surfnshannon
my bf theory was that Palpatine had the two army fight...droids and clones to see which was stronger. Then he will pick the stronger of the two. I personally think the clones will be storm troopers and that we will see that happen towards the end of EP3
