Aimee_lou_uk
ok is anyone else as excited as me about the now lord of the rings fim being less than a month away? I loved the 1st film... and cant wait for the second... its pure genius!
Junior™
Yeah, the first movie was pretty awesome. But still...I was a tiny bit disappointed because Peter Jackson left out so many thing I loved in the book, like for example Tom Bombadil. Anyways, I'll definetly watch it within the first week it's in the local cinemas.
Kjølen
Well they'd have to cut out some, the movie was like 2 hours and 44 Mins. But still, that is a pretty big part of the movie. TTT must be awesome. IT HAD BETTER BE
Aimee_lou_uk
yeah... my dad used 2 read the poem about tom bombadil to me when i was little! "troll sat alone on a piece of stone, and munched and mumbled a bear old bone..." n his ponies aswell, i wud have loved to have seen that on the film! also i didnt like it where he left out how frodo actually found the sword, and bilbo didnt give him it, also that the male elf rode him to rivendell, not the female one! Kjølen
Yeah, but they did a good job of copying the script word for word, like Harry Potter did. O.o;;;
brief
I really wanted to see what they would have done with Tom Bombadil when I heard they were making the movie, and was disappointed that they decided to skip his character entirely. However, I can understand why they chose to not include him--it would have just caused most of the viewers more confusion... As it is, I'm already getting all kinds of questions from my friends regarding various aspects of the story--since I've read the books, and they haven't. Afterall, even folks well learned in Tolkien-lore can't say for sure what exactly Tom Bombadil was (although many theories exist). We can't really expect people with no knowledge of the books to figure it out.
Guybrush122
Wouldnt call it GENIOUS but it was pretty damn cool...and I have to say I'm pretty eager for the Two Towers to come out.

Boba Rhett
Hey, I liked the guy in the books. Books don't equal movies though. Some things that work on paper would ruin a movie. That's why I don't like many of the complaints people have about what is and isn't included. Bambodil is one of those things that doesn't work on screen. He would have thrown the pacing entirely off and I really really didn't want to see a seeing, prancing fat man with a feather in his hat and bright yellow buits. Talk about ruining the experiance. Junior™
I don't understand why everybody hates Tom Bombadil that much....I think he was extremly entertaining in the book. Okay, maybe his songs were annoying as hell but besides...sort of reminded me of a garden dwarf.
Joshi
i have the extended edition of LOTR:FOTR, and it clearly explains in the appendixes there that they left out tom because at the end of the bombadil thing, they were no farther into the story than at the beginning, there was no need for it, it didn't drive the movie, just paused it for a while, and they needed to keep a pace. also, i can't wait for TTT, it looks so good, i downloaded the trailer a while ago and still can't believe it, what are they gonna do for ROTK? wow, it looks really good. and just a side track, i just say die another day, good movier, i suggest u all see it, even if u don't like bond. but lets go back to TTT, not going of topic.
