Nitro
But since I don't have the bandwidth for all you guys to listen to it online, find me on some form of IM or email and I'll send it. Only 2MB.

Nitro
When I'm bored. A word of warning: I'm mildly sick, so my voice isn't quite up to par. I'll re-record it sometime when I'm feeling a little less run down, but until then, you'll have to deal with a few sour notes.
Nitro
Oh, I almost forgot... http://members.rogers.com/justiceforall/theletter.mp3 It's up until I hit my 300MB a month limit, then it's gone. I would ask that you right click and save it instead of just downloading it every time you want to hear it. Thanks!

Jem
HEY! I've heard that song before! It's from Rodney Carrington! When you said you recorded a song I automatically supposed that you wrote it. I'm very dissapointed in you young man. The copyright lawyers are going to eat you alive:
Nitro
Yes, it's me on guitar... I'm a one man show. And Jem, I said I recorded a song... Not that I wrote a song, though an original is coming soon. I just need the house to myself so I can record.

edlib
(Actually, I have recorded many songs, but this one seemed appropriate to dedicate to Nitro.) This one's pretty old... recorded in early '99, I think. First things first: Time to get some business out of the way... This means never, NEVER, under any circumstances, ever let your parents catch you listening to this! I don't need to get a buch of angry e-mails from your folks, thanks. Seriously... I'm aware that I present this with the risk of alienating a few of you forever. If you are easily offended by various 4-letter words, and more importantly, the images they might represent, both implied and graphically described, it's probably a good idea for you not to listen to this. Since that leaves most of you... Hotdog Sally About 5Mb. And no,.. I do not sing on it, just play the guitar. I was also the recording engineer. There are 2 other guys playing on it: Mr. A - Singing and playing the keys; and Mr B - Singing and Electronic Drums (and no, he is not really a drummer) Names have been obsured to protect the not-so innocent,.. plus I didn't run it by them first that I was going to put this on the Net. This came out of a much longer jam session we did with the tape running. This is the first and only take of this song, recorded live to stereo cassette, with no overdubs, edits, or studio trickery of any kind to enhance it. It is presented exactly the way we recorded it, warts and all. It is also important to note that everything you hear was improvised on the spot! The entire song: harmony, melody, arrangement, and lryics were completely made up as we were playing, just as you hear it. None of this was worked out in advance. This explains a lot, actually. Here's a quick rundown of a few of the most glaring inside jokes you will run into: 1.) The song is very loosely based on a demo of a tune that one of the guys found. It's a folksy little ditty called "Sally's in a Hot Dog Mood" about a girl who REALLY loves hot dogs. The chorus went: "Sally's in a hot dog mood, She's crusin' in a hot dog zone, Don't try to follow too close, When Sally's in a hot dog mood." There was also a couple of other lines in the song that conjured up some interesting imagery, such as: "Her ideal date is always long, and doesn't soil her dress." and "She'll go down, buddy, on a foot-long dog. Like a lumberjack sawing a log." I'm not sure if the impression these lyrics give is intentional by the writer or not, but we took this to it's logical and most perverted extreme. 2.) "Porn Music" - This is based on a real event. One night in the studio someone put a really bad porn vid in the VCR. Within seconds someone said, "This music is terrible! Who writes and records this stuff? We could do better than this right now." So we turned the sound off, picked up our instruments, and started playing. Film scoring live. From that point on if anyone asked us if we were in a band and what kind of music we played, the answer was always "porn music."

Of course, I was sick as a dog, so my voice is crap... And since my voice was crap, I didn't bother to put too much into post-production. Gonna go back and re record it when I have a few hours and a backup singer. But for now, courage.
Jem
Great stuff edlib! I loved the "Nasty! Nasty!" part I once improvised a Heavy Trash Death Metal music in one of my gigs with my friend singer and my other friend drummer, it was *special*. I have no idea what the lyrics were, they went a bit like "ROOOOOOWWWW DEATH AND DESTRUCTION!!!!! ROOWWW KILL!!!" But absolutly nothing beats an instrumental improvisation. Nitro, I can't listen to your music right now because I have to register to mp3.com and I don't feel like going all through that crap right now so maybe later. edlib
So, Nitro, I take it that you like logic class? Jem. I actually have an entire CD worth of material that came out of the jam session that spawned "Sally." Some of it is instrumental. It's all pretty out there stuff. Kinda like the Zappa band on a really off day. Some of it is pretty funny. I don't have the webspace to put the whole thing up at the moment, but if you P.M. or e-mail me an address, I'll send you a copy if you want. My Christmas gift to you. This year I'm giving the gift of edlib! EDIT: I just found out that my ISP provides 60MB of webspace for members, so I might be able to get a few more tunes up. I'll have to look into that. Nitro
edilb, why not put 'em up on mp3.com?
edlib
Yeah, that's possible,.. but I'd want to clear doing something like that with the other guys who played on these first, and I haven't been able to get in touch with either one of them lately. They're both in Cali last I heard, and neither of the e-mail addy's I have seem to be working. If it's my own personal webspace it just seems a little different. It probably isn't, but I would just feel wierd putting this stuff on a public server like MP3.com. If I ever get around to recording any of my own original stuff, them I might go the MP3.com route.
