The Jedi Code

I'm working on this for an RPG group that I've just assumed leader of. It's kind of lagging now... still gets a lot of RPs, but everything's very repetative now because of the isolation of the setting (New Jedi Order on Yavin IV). After the newyear, I'm going to restructure the thing... move the group to Coruscant and change the timeframe to pre-Prequel era (roughly 40 years before TPM). So, here's my version of the Jedi Code... I know that there are several out there... official versions, even... but none of them seemed complete. At least none of them dealt with having only one Padawan, which Mace said was forbidden by the Code. Anyway, here it is... comments are welcomed:

1: A JEDI USES THE FORCE FOR KNOWLEDGE AND DEFENSE, NEVER FOR ATTACK. It is the Will of the Force that all life should be respected, as all life is One in the Force. In this capacity, no Jedi shall act offensively toward any life form unless provoked by a threat to another life, or to their own life. If defense is necessary, a Jedi shall only use only the amount of force required to neutralize the threat, and shall not exceed it.

2: ATTACHMENT IS FORBIDDEN. A Jedi shall show no favoritism, but shall be compassionate to all life. A Jedi shall not choose sides, but shall seek the objective Truth and enlightenment through the Force in any conflict, so that they may lead all sides to harmony.

3: POSSESSION IS FORBIDDEN. In order that there should be no distraction from the meditation, study and rigorous training vital to achieve a greater unity with the Force, a Jedi shall take a vow of poverty and shall claim no material possessions. A Jedi's life is one of communal living; all basic necessities shall be provided by the Order. What belongs to one, belongs to all.

4: A JEDI SHALL NOT KNOW ANGER, OR HATRED, OR LOVE. A Jedi must deny their own emotions in order to find clarity and unity with the Force. Even emotions seen as benign, such as love or fear, may lead to great suffering. For a Jedi to entertain these tribulent feelings is to invite the Dark Side's corruption. A Jedi must ever be mindful of their feelings, for only from within can the Dark Side take hold.

5. PASS ON WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED. Do not hoard your knowledge, but pass it on to the next generation. A Jedi Knight is encouraged to take on a Padawan Learner and teach them all that they were taught by their Master before them and all that they have learned through personal experience since gaining Knighthood. By the simple bond of teacher and student, much can be learned by both, and greater enlightenment can be achieved. Toward this end, a Jedi shall have no more than a single Padawan, so that their full attention may be bestowed upon their one student.

Not really, I've seen that on a bunch of pre-EPII posters...still, pretty good set of rules-however, the Old republic is about 50 years before the New Jedi Order...40 years before NJO is 10 years after the Clone Wars
