Doubleplus GC Posted December 15, 2002 Posted December 15, 2002 Okay, Yoda's Help Desk is completely failing to give me the Grim Fandango patch or any troubleshooting guides for the game. So, does anyone have any advice for how to fix the Year 2 glitch where the elevator moves too quickly to jam the damn forklift? I think my friend Julian's technique was to kick the computer till is ran slower. PS: Semi-Spoiler Warning.
Doubleplus GC Posted December 15, 2002 Author Posted December 15, 2002 Okay, never mind. For anyone who has had my same problem and also opted against the "beat it into submission" method: the trick is to just boot up a lot of memory-hogging programs and turn off the graphics acceleration. On software mode and with KaZaA searching for a They Might Be Giants song and AOL running while operating a graphically-hefty site like The Onion, I managed to make the game chug enough to pull it off. Remember my words, chilluns, you'll need them someday.
Ztev Posted December 15, 2002 Posted December 15, 2002 Well, for next time you play the game: ftp://ftp.lucasarts.com/patches/pc/Gfupd101.exe grimfandango.net has all your Grim Fandango needs.
Jake Posted December 15, 2002 Posted December 15, 2002 The "massively bog down your computer" approach is really good, though. And funny.
chrisakachris Posted December 21, 2002 Posted December 21, 2002 I picked up a copy of Mad (the magazine. You know. It still exists. Wonderful.) a few weeks ago and they had an insanely good parody of The Onion. Oh, and the most perfect poster in the history of existence.
Doubleplus GC Posted December 22, 2002 Author Posted December 22, 2002 If you parodied The Onion wouldn't you just get straight news?
chrisakachris Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 Yes. Oh. And. You must to see the poster.
Doubleplus GC Posted January 6, 2003 Author Posted January 6, 2003 Very good, mad props. You know, with a few minor changes this could just as easily be The Onion making fun of Mad.
mercatfat Posted January 9, 2003 Posted January 9, 2003 The Onion had a really good article making fun of Mad but I can't find it on the damn Onion site. Maybe it was only for people that got the paper version of the Onion. http://www.theonion.com/onion3820/congress_threatens.html This one is funny because China thought it was real.
