nova_wolf
Im not talking fav game, console, era, genre, character or anything, they they ALWAYS end up in flame-wars. Im talking purely of the moments when game designers, coder and crew succeed. Took you to a place and had you THERE - w/ the characters, feeling the emotions. Where you were wrapped around their little fingers, and they played with you. Took you somwehere, only to then dump you somewhere you did not emotional want to be. Dispair, fear, passion, heart break, defiance... What gaming moment will stick w/ you forever for sheer brilliance... For example, my two are: 1) Death of Aeris in FF7 - the way that you reached the Lost City, were so close to finding what you needed to save the day, and then in the space of a few seconds, had everything taken from you. And the use of Aeris' Theme for the battle after the event dragged you into it it. It was no longer mere gaming, it was personal! 2) AVP - Playing as a Marine. Never has any radar system been so utterly useless and yet totally depended upon. Lights flickering, motion tracker bleeping idly, then the 3 seconds of a blip being detected... Then its gone, no matter which way you face... Fear... Fear is your enemy - lose your bottle, and you life soon follows...
SettingShadow
1. When you first enter the Dekku Tree in Zelda Ocarina Of Time, it fellt/looked so cool and I always liked the beginning of games the most. 2. The start of FFVII
Darth Scythe
Yes! almost everything in Zelda warped my mind and traped me within the games world. Then agian so did almost all of the Resident Evil games, They just took me away and made me fight for my life. Final Fantasy's are all good and Im a fan of the games but sometimes I feel apart of the games other times I just feel too distant from them. The biggest moments would be: -The start of Max Payne, when he goes home. -Zelda Ocarina of time, when link grows up and see the world he grew up in destroyed to nothing almost. Lost Welshman
My favorite moment of any game has to me the intro to the last battle of Monkey Combat in MI4, it sends shivers down my spine.
Lunatic Jedi
In Metal Gear Solid when Psycho Mantis starts "reading your mind" and telling you about other games you like. That really freaked me out. "You like Castlevania, don't you?"
nova_wolf
Originally posted by ShockV1.89 Copycat... http://lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86725 Ooops - had a feeling it may have been done... Well, great minds Resi 1 - the FMV before you meet your first lizardman mutant - the view and camera wobble as if you WERE the lixardman, racing through the house, drooling, growlling, then the final door is flung open. And cause of the camera, even though you know it's there, you can't see it until it leaps at you... Made me jump, especially given that I decided to be a man and play it at night w/ no lights on... Some games just HAVE to be played in day light, especially if you've never played them beofre (AVP and Resi series in particular)

X R Kun
I just remembered mine. In the first Hitman in one of the missions where i have to assasinate this guy in a restaraunt in chinatown. I silently disposed off one of his guards in the restaraunt's back alley and entered the toilet. This is where the cool stuff begins: I took out my double colt.45, looked into the mirror and brandishing the guns, i said u talking to me? After a quick smirk and tie adjustment i pushed aside the door and shot that bastard in the head. Guards came in and i flashed my badass shotgun and begin piling up corpses.Sweeeettt
ckcsaber
My fav 2 have already been said, but thats how great they are. Aliens vs. Predator- This is one scary ass game. Seriously. Especially as marine. You are almost completlt blind. You have this radar that instead of helping you, scares you even more when you start hearing the increase of beeps when enemys come closer.and closer. You search franticlly for the alien (xenomorph) you cant find it! You turn aroud just in time to see black acidic jaws to close around the screen. COOL Half Life- The WHOLE game was good. I felt completly as if I was in the story. Even in Opposing Force and Blue Shift. When I first played Blue Shift and came to the near end, you have to open up the portal and escape w/the scientiscts. Finnaly all the scientiscts get thru. You begin charging the portal for one last run for yourself. Thats when you first hear the banging. Soft at first. Then a creschendo topped off by a explosion. Marines. Just then The portal is open. You have to reach it before the marines get you.
