Jabba The Hunt
I'm trying to upgrade my motherboard (and processor) but I cant get the motherboard out, its not secured to the case by screws, but by some sort of clips, I managed to rotate one of them and that lifted the board in that region up, but none of the other will rotate, does anyone know how to get the motherboard off the case? Ikhnaton
if you're not going to use it again, just yank it out of there.
Admiral Odin
Alright here are a couple things to do. Dynamite will definetly remove it. But I assume you want to keep the case, so... A plasma tourch will do the job nicely. Or pull really hard.
Nitro
Those riser clips can be a real bastard sometimes... You should check to see if they're just slid into the case. And if that doesn't work, get a pair of needle-nose plyers.
Cmdr. Cracken
It also might be fused to the case. check for sodders along the mobo. if that's teh case...... um....... get a new case too.
Jabba The Hunt
Thanx for all your help, In the end I got fed up and took it to a shop, turns out I needed a new PSU anyway so they did all of it for me, although I havnt got it back yet I'm having to post this from the ICS server. And I so want to use my new surround sound system to play NS, I get the feeling that walking down a corridor with aliens crawling about in the dark recess's above you could be quite fun when I can hear exactly what direction they are coming from. Hey that gives me a thought, why cant we have true 3D sound, as in up and down aswell?
Gold leader
They're working on it. I remember reading about a research project at my university, that involved simulated 3d sound. It somehow tricked the ear with a special kind of headphone, with which they were able to making people think the sound was coming from a certain direction (including above and below).
