Poe. I read this thing where these guys go down to a wine cellar, one ties the other one up, and buries him alive. Please post the title of this short story if you know it. I liked it.

Animal Farm is a cool book, nothing freaky in it though. It is just Russia with animals.... Sad when

boxer dies...

Edgar Allen Poe.

I have a thick book of his short stories....his stuff can be hard to read, but if you get into it, you can get thoroughly freaked.

Katarn07, you're refering to the Mosque of Red Death I'm pretty sure...tis a good story.

But what about the Murder at Rue Morgue? Great story...very "original" indeed.

Edgar Allan Poe without a doubt.

his poems are remarkable for their flawless literary construction and for their haunting themes and meters.

and also his essays were famous for their sarcasm, wit, and exposure of literary pretension. his evaluations have withstood the test of time and have earned for him a high place among American literary critics. Poe's theories on the nature of fiction and, in particular, his writings on the short story have had a lasting influence on American and European writers.

No its not that but it sounds the same. :) It's "The Cask of Amontillado" The story that your thinking about is

when all the rich and wealthy gather for a party while everyone outside is dying from the Red Death. And the Red Death gets into the party and kills everyone.

I would have to say Edgar Allen Poe as well because franlky he's the only guy that I have read weird stuff from. The Tell Tale Heart and the House of Usher were just weird in my opinion. Farenheit 451 was also a weird book too. I expected alot more from the movie but then again it was made back in the day and they couldn't make all the visual stuff look good without making the movie seem funny.

Oh wait. I just though of Stephen King. He has to be the freakiest author right now because his books just freak you out too. They are also scary too but if you think about it some of the stuff is also freaky in a way.

Orwell, because "1984" is a prophetic dystopia that everybody should read and take into account. Total information awareness here in the States is creating a Big Brother. Seems like 1984 has come about twenty years late. And "Animal Farm" is a parable on the rise of Communism--"All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others." Poe's definately freaky, but the things in Orwell's novels are still possible and still very relevant in our world today, and the ramifications of their coming about now would have an effect on every single person on earth.

That said, Fahrenheit 451, another dystopia, is my favorite book on that list, though it isn't really "freaky". It's an excellent book about the dangers of censorship and the dumming-down of a culture. Another prophetic volume that everyone should read.

Well, isnt it banned or was that just on Jett Jackson? I want to read it, I heard it was good. Just wondering if it was banned.
