i have the same problem as caconly. i'm running winxp. when i try to run it in fullscreen appears the message "vid_video_initialize failed" and the game doesn't run. when i run it in windowed mode with the cmi launcher, it works fine until the first scene with the cannon when i get the "uSetDIBitsToDeviceError:87" message.

to play curse of monkey island on vista or xp, download the new curse of monkey island launcher:

http://quick.mixnmojo.com/cmi-launcher

then after installing the launcher, right click CMI Launcher.exe and select properties

click Compatibility tab

tick Run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows 95.

then launch the new CMI Launcher.exe and the game should work fine in full screen mode.

i've done this on windows Vista and it works beautifully...
