Breton
You can see the trailer here: http://www.apple.com/trailers/newline/a_man_apart/ It is a rip-off, IMO.

El Sitherino
actually its a basic storyline. this is a storyline thats really old ive seen a movie like this before. i believe this is a remake of an old 70's movie. not sure though.
Andy867
So what if its a rip-off? Max Payne is a rip-off of a late 80's-early 90's video game (can't remember the name, but the story is the same.) My girlfriend wants to see it because of Diesel being in it. But explain this, if its a rip-off, does that mean Max Payne grew up in a rough neighborhood as a child, did drugs himself, got his life turned around, became a cop, lost his wife so he goes vigilante? And from my understanding, Vin Diesel's character isn't framed for murder, he just goes with a handful of people, including a jailed druglord against the new baddie. So, from that view point, they are 2 HIGHLY different storylines. One is a fugitive trying to clear his name, the other is just trying to avenge his wife's death. So, no it isnt a rip-off of Max Payne, its a new story.

Riiiight. Because that story had never been done before Max Payne.
greedo626
I'm not saying that max payne is original or coming down on a man apart, but the movie's storyline is close enough to the game's that it could be the max payne movie.
Lost Welshman
The film sounds like max payne with out bullet time, Id just get the game (Although I already have it?).
Andy867
But you guys are missing the obvious point, which that in Max Payne, he is a wanted fugitive so he has to worry about the police and the drug lord who killed his wife and child, where Vetter(Diesel) is a cop who loses his wife to a drug lord and hires help from a fellow officer and recently jailed drug lord to help bring the new drug lord. That alone splits the two storylines. And the fact that Vetter grew up in a rough neighborhood, giving him an edge on how to deal with the baddies also splits the margin even more. So, enough with saying that A movie is a rip-off of a video game.
