hyperspace12
How "Real" will the various worlds be. For instance, say I'm walking around on Tatooine. Would all the people I see be preset. Or would people be randomly generated outside of the city perhaps, and walk in, and then I could go and interact with these "newcomers". Same goes for vehicles. Are they all preset, driving around in a continuous loop, or would they be randomly generated and cruise into the city, as if it was a real place where people come and go. Ulic Qel-Droma
i would say from what i have heard a littel bit of collum A and a littel bit of collum B, some random and some pre set things.
Jedi Apprentice
--Well, obviously some important NPC's have to be preset to make the game go but I imagine some other of the people could be randomly generated. It might add slighty to replay value. You wouldn't go to a town in Tattooine for the 5th time through in the game and hear the same person say the same thing. It would be interesting. As for the vehicles, I do remember reading that vehicles will be traveling around much like the movies. Ships will be flying through the sky in the distance, etc... leXX
I should think the AI should be pretty good for such a huge project and we can probably expect everything to be doing random things. If the worlds are as realistic as Halo, then I'll be happy.
OttoSenjut
I don't think it would really be too much of a problem or take away at all from the replay if they werent presets. I just hope the npcs arent like those in Morrowind. The kinds that just sit there all the time, lifeless. or walk around like mindless jerks in the same places all day doing nothing. I wana see npcs going through their day at their homes or work maybe even have them go back and forth or something. Basically i dont want anything in this game to remind me of morrowind. its a decent game but kinda a bore. its basically doing the same kinda things over and over. Going to the same looking shrines or temples. I dunno jack about vehicles in KOTOR. any on the ground are probably useless models sitting on the ground that never do anything. and more than likely any moveing in the air are just flying around in circles. Im not really expecting much of travel other than walking around. I mean dont get me wrong I would love to fly over some towel heads and blast the heck outa them (i mean sand people) or fly through space and skim around destroyers. But of all the things ive read and the screenshots i havent seen any proof of it happening (sept the turret side quest deal but im not sure if thats controlling the whole ship or just the turret). but all i really think space travel or maybe travel from city to city will be is walking up to a display and selecting where you wanna go then POOF. there. i wana be wrong. piloting spacecraft is a big part of starwars. anyone got any info that can prove me wrong? Aerothorn
It's Star Wars. Don't expect TOO much realism. Also, games are in their relative infancy and have yet to advance much, espescially in control. For instance, say I wanna jump on something, but most games your charecter has to land on their feet, they can't pull themselves up. And you can't put your back to something and throw a grenade, or have much control of your charecter.
ultimaster
Not yet, but games are getting there. Splinter Cell, while being linear, had a lot of things you could do like putting your back to the wall and shooting around it, jumping and grabbing pipes, etc. KOTOR may surprise you in this regard. I hope things like jumping and flipping off a wall are possible, but it isn't necessary to make this a great game.

If you take a jump thats your height or so you'll lose health. It has some interesting bits of realism. Except......for stabbing people with machetes like 10 times before they die. Too much realism will either make a game overly easy or overly hard.
Yozorama
With to much realism you would loose the role-playing of the game, it would be more like putting as many points as possible on whatever would ensure you to get to throw the first punch... Guest Jed
Hell, things like that aren't going to take away from KOTOR being a great game. Of course, added realism doesn't hurt, but I doubt that they focused on that too much.
covenant_bad
i think KOTOR will be lightyears ahead of morrowind, Ugh. Morrowind is possibly one of the worst games ive ever bought, and i agree the AI is as advanced as pacman. but thats all in the past:D and now kotor can only be better. Frosty_V2.1
I think they have random 'street npcs' (?) , if they have some of them actually doing something that would go a long way. I wonder about the random banter though, with everything fully voice acted and such, tho I guess no matter how much they add it will be get repetitive
Aerothorn
Yes, but those things in Splinter Cell are all preprogrammed action, and are only there because they have uses. Wheres a game where you can pick your nose? It would have no use but you CAN do it. Wheres a game where you can sit in a yoga trance to calm your charecter down? I'm talking complete body control.
