Guest DarthMaulUK
GB.com has been changed a far bit over the past couple of years...from the original white look, to a blueish one and to the current black and grey. Well, times are changing and I like to keep Galactic Battles.com clean and crisp and as such, the site will under go a major revamp which should launch around late March/April in time (I hope for big news from E3 on SWGB2) In this thread, I would like your ideas to watch can be added/improved in the current site. Please keep everything on topic. DMUK
joesdomain
I think there should be downloads section. But downloads that can be easily downloaded withouth a mod installer, zip program, etc. There has got to be a way to just click on a link and download something without having to buy a program to download it. I think more information on individual civilization units would be cool. I would also like to see a planet section where members can make planets and you can download it. The planets made by Lucasarts in the single player mode are not good.
pbguy1211
more downloads! more downloads! more downloads! -more 1 player scenario's... -a TEACHING RM saved game would be nice too. I'd be willing to help at that. -a possible mod section??? the heavengames site has a HUGE one
Sithmaster_821
Better Strategy articles, or maybe an option for forumers to submit strategy articles. No offense, but the current strategy articles are a bit dismal. Oh, yeah, and FORUM PARTIES!
swphreak
How about a site done in Flash? But then again, not many people have broadband and it would take forever for them to load it. . . nah discard that one. What about a Humor Section? Admiral Vostok
I heartily agree with more strategy. More downloads would be good, but I don't know if you'll be able to compete with heavengames. But definitely more strategy, on topics like Random Maps, early game, each civilisation's strengths and weaknesses, etc.
CorranSec
More downloads would definitely be an improvement. It has always struck me as odd that a player-made fan site has many times the number of downloadable game stuff than the actual official site does. Maybe, DMUK, you could talk to GBHeaven about sharing some downloads? More strategy articles would also be quite good. They could easily be submitted, and (if you're desperate) a bunch of us forumers could get together and throw strats around, from which someone could organise the whole thing into some actual strategy articles. A GB- or SW-related humour section would also be quite good. Some flash stuff would be good. Plenty of fan sites for plenty of games these days have moving images around the site, and some even have flash introductions.
Praetorian
I'm going to agree with everybody else. I think the site needs downloads, but most importantly, it needs strategy articles. I'm sure many of us (including myself) would be will to write articles. One of the things that attracted me to MrFixitOnline's AOK site was all the good strategy articles they had. Guest DarthMaulUK
There's already general stuff about Strategies on this site. All of which cover the basics and a little more. As for downloads, it would be nice to have more but it's all upto those who play this game to submit them in. Now that Lucasfiles.com has launched, it should make it easier and better to submit. In terms of downloads, yes SWGB Heavengames has far more but no doubt alot of them are a waste of time. I would rather have quality over quantity. But downloads are the only thing that they have over GB.com. GB.com provides better news, tournaments, and of course exclusive SWGB content (remember where the 'related project' was announced!) and we had exclusive access to Screens of Clone Campaigns. The new site will offer alot for the current game but I do want to prepare for news on SWGB 2. I am hoping to launch the new look April and I do expect news on SWGB 2 in May @ E3. Naturally, once it is all confirmed GB.com will do another successful Q&A with Game Director Garry Gaber. (it will be his 3rd one here). So if you want more downloads...get to work!! It would be cool for someone to make a campaign or something and use Forumers names. DMUK
Sithmaster_821
There's already general stuff about Strategies on this site. All of which cover the basics and a little more. But the basics aren't enough. What about unit/tech/building charts like at MFO? Or more specific directions for different strategies? Or in-depth civ analysises? And the forumer submitted strategies are good too.
Crazy_dog no.3
I like it as it is, but I have to scroll right each time I go on. I would like to go on without scrolling
Guest DarthMaulUK
Crazy, check your browser resolution. This site works in most but if you are low res (640x ??? ) for example, you will have to scroll. The site is best viewed in 800x600 screen res. I would even be willing to write and submit stuff. We want specific strategies. Articles about booming, specific civ strats, and things like that. I also like the idea of unit/tech/building charts. I'll try to work on that to if you want.
Guest DarthMaulUK
No offence but until I see your standard of play, I wouldn't consider your strategy. The strategies that are on the site were created by people I know and those I know are true experts in the game. They were designed to be simple to help those mostly new start off playing and they do cover the basics, which make or break you in the first 10 minutes of playing. Feel free to ZM me on the zone if you fancy a game at any time. DMUK
Sithmaster_821
DMUK: I said on another thread that I would go back and see if anything has changed in the strategy section since i last was there, and it has. The strats and build orders you have there are actually quite good, and the points made are very noteworthy (although the one about the strengths of strikes stopping a trooper rush in t3 may be a little off after the patching, but their still true that mass troopers CAN handle strikes). Still waiting ofr the civ specific analysises that were promised a while ago (unless they are there too, which I say that I have little qualms), but on a whole the strats were better than I remembered. One positive aspect of having community submitted strategies is that then you get a different look at the game and exposure to different, more specific strats. CorranSec
DMUK: If you only accept strats from people you've played with, you're not going to get many strats at all. I mean, not to criticise you or anything, but... ah, whatever, I'm criticising you. It just makes sense to at least read all community-submitted articles. After that, you can decide whether to put them in or not, but your current inclusion policy is somewhat wanting. don't ban me.....
Guest DarthMaulUK
Ah.. I won't ban you. :-) 1) I dont have the time to sit down and put all the strats I would get to use 2) Strats from people other than experts would cause confusion. The ones on here have been developed and edited to suit SWGB from AOK and when you watch the recorded games, you will see alot of them in action. They are my main reasons. DMUK
CorranSec
1) Well, you could get other people to do it (read, add, whatever). Other experts, maybe. 2) Well, what defines an 'expert'? I could call myself an expert, but I'm not really. But I still might have a good strategy.
Guest DarthMaulUK
I dont really want to turn this into a thread about this..its for ideas. Like everything mentioned I will take this on board and see how it goes from there. If people wish to send in strats, they can. The fact that some of the strats have been provided by MFO (Mr Fixit Online) where the true experts hang out, like Blue myriddn for example. They kindly provided their time to help people expand in RM gaming.
CorranSec
Sorry, DM. I'll try to contain my argumentative urges... Okay. Some more ideas. Um... well, a whole graphical revamp would be nice. Some nice colours and all that. Just all-around spruce the general 'look' of the site up.

Feel free to ZM me on the zone if you fancy a game at any time. DMUK No offense taken. I understand. I would love to play you online, but I have a problem. We just got a new computer and my dad doesn't want games on it. I'm still trying to talk him into it. I would use my personal computer, but I don't have a internet connection in my room. Right now the only good practice I get is by going to my friends house and setting up a small LAN of 2-4 computers. But I've got to the point I know their strats. I also reviewed the current strats, and it has improved immensly since I last looked. Anyway, back on topic...I've really liked the previous color schemes you've done, so I keep up the good work. The only thing I worry about is that you continue to do at least some work on SWGB & CC after SWGB2 comes out. I've seen a lot of sites totally devote to a sequel, and forget all the fans who still play the original. I'll probably move to SWGB2 when it comes out, but I know a lot of people who will still play CC, too (I'll play occationally too). I guess what I'm saying is try to keep both communities alive, or try to integrate the 2 into 1 partly connected community. Like 2 separate strategy boards, but one general and one off-topic. I'm not sure if that came out right. Modify it, change it, say it stinks, whatever. wow, I planned this to be short, but it was...well, yeah
Guest DarthMaulUK
Well, when u can, zm me for a game As for SWGB and SWGB 2, I will of course provide for the original game until it comes to the point when no one plays it anymore. GB.com will still provide for everyone. As for the strats section. Its always wise to either read the news stories or to take a look around the site. Lots on it and stuff updated. Fishflesh
even if you make a super A site it wont help the game getting popular i think the only thing that would help is a sequal and that can thake a long time
pbguy1211
well... in my opinion (and yes, i know no one really cares...) GB.com is getting KILLED by heavengames in all types of downloads. There are only *8* scenarios in the download section... there are only 7 mods... 20 maps, 6 patches, 1 taunt pack, and 3 "Miscellaneous" files... you can't look me in the eye and honestly say those are the only "quality" downloads out there... PS I wouldnt take sithmaster's advice either!
