Hannibal
Originally posted by Jedi Apprentice One thing I'm hoping for is that to get your basic force powers you don't just run into Force blocks (like JO) and then you have them. Maybe after you finish some training you just end up with the basic ones. I think a cutscene with a training sequence. Then you actually get to practice the skill(but you'd be at a low level in it). Katarn07
Those blocks are called holocrons. In BG to get new spells, as you level up, you are given options. I'm sure when you level up, you get to choose. There will be some more exotic, powerful powers hidden somewhere in the form of a holocron I'm sure you can put in your inventory and 'learn spell'. That way after resting, you knowhow to use it. Thoughts?
ultimaster
I'm in favour of having quests where you either recieve your lightsabre, or build it or whatever. If you have to work to get your lightsabre, it will feel like an accomplishment that means a lot in terms of your character and the game. Unless you were to start out as a jedi of some sorts, then I suppose you would have a lightsabre to begin with.
Swat
all rpgs have side-quests lol
Frosty_V2.1
I guess holocrons would be a good way to do it, but it should only go for special/high lvl powers, maybe dropped by a Dark Jedi/Sith very rarely or on specific quests.
Katarn07
I agree. Unless you're in a Sith/ Jedi base where Force users are and allow you to go around, there'll be plenty in cabinetes. Let's hope we can get a holocron case in the stores than, huh? Same with crystals for the saber.

Jo
Originally posted by Darth Damage This game is about finding out that u are force sensitive and you develope these thing in the game.... so no, you dont get force powers at the start of the game. I like the whole look of this game, but im getting tired of games where we have to develop them..why cant we just start with them...or atleast be able to train with other people, like and RPG souly around Jedi Training, you start, build custom character and spar and train force powers online with others...then after awhile go on separate missions. anyway back on topic, sorry got off there.. Thrift
Mmm well said Reb Yeah, I've got to say, I will be very interested to see how the lightsabre earning/construction plays out. I'm guessing it will be a quest of reasonably long duration where you have to find 3 of these crystals you will apparently be required to obtain for a lightsabre to work. You will perhaps have to go for a wander on Dantooine, or there will be some plot-twist involving an absence of the necessary parts at the academy. Well, mayyyybe. Just a stab in the dark though... Burrie
I personally expect that at one point in the game, there will be a time skip of a couple of week/months/years(?) in which we'll learn our skills. Gameplay wise, we'll be brought to the character creation screen, and pick whatever Jedi Class we want to be, as well as any available skills/Force powers... I DO hope that we'll see cutscenes in which we learn our powers... or mayhaps even get to participate in the training. And I really, really, REALLY hope that the lightsaber building will play a huge part. In the Dutch Interview I posted a few weeks ago, they made it seem as if a saber was a throw-away object, not really something special. If you don't like it, throw it away and build a new one.... then again, there were a few different mistakes in the interview... On the Jedi Outcast note, I personally have to say that I praise Raven for how they took care of the whole Force business... using the Valley of the Jedi as a plot device truly surprised me, but it works real well. I was afraid that Kyle would simply relearn his Force Powers without any trouble at all(kinda like he learned them in the original Jedi Knight game), but at least this is a believable explanation. The Holocrons were gameplay mechanics, a nice way to earn the Force Powers, 'tho I personally would simply prefer that you'd get the Force Powers as you ran through the Force training level...
