yolkboy
Yeah, well I'm running a GeForce 3 , but get frame rates up to 110. Average is about 50-80 though. Not to bad, but on high detailed levels, my video card just can't handle it and I go down to 10-20 fps. Pretty Jumpy:mad: Anyways, hopefully I'll be able to build a new system this summer, any suggestions on what to put in it? What video card, CPU, Motherboard, etc.... Feel free to list all the things. Not saying it's totally false, but I don't believe having a higher framerate should actually let you move faster. I don't see why that would need to happen (compensation with framerate) on a modern engine, I'm betting it's something Q3 players cooked up in their heads. you asked for it, you got it http://ucguides.savagehelp.com/Quake3/FAQFPSJumps.html "Matching our conditions with the table, we predict that the best frame rates would be about 29, 41, 83, 92, 120, 140, and 170. Notice that these numbers are very near the values that people have found experimentally. This match between theory and experience lends credence to the model used." Hekx
It looks like I'll be getting a GeForce 4 MX 128MB soon, since the only other graphics cards I've found are either worser than my current one, or are my current one. What's the average, min and max FPS for the GeForce 4, does anyone know? I can barely survive with my current card, it's driving me insane. Emon
You're wasting your money. Spend a few extra dollars (and I mean a few) and get a GeForce 4 Ti 4200.
adillon
it's funny how a thread about framerates has turned into recommendations for video cards ...
ryudom
not really, it might be funny if it turned into a thread about asteroids smashing into pluto though

Hekx
I went out and got a ATi Radeon 128MB 9000 Pro, and it rules. No slowdown and a good frame-rate even on system heavy maps.
