Commander Bond Posted February 15, 2003 Share Posted February 15, 2003 As the latest Bond picture, Die Another Day, fades from our cinema screens, I ask you: just what is your favourite James Bond 007 film of all time? Mine is Roger Moore's last outing as the British Super-Spy: A View To A Kill. Witty, fast-paced, slick and highly entertaining, with brilliant acting quality and superb action scenes, this Bond film deserves, in my eyes, to be called the "Greatest Ever Bond Film"... but do you agree? Darklighter Posted February 15, 2003 Share Posted February 15, 2003 I'd have to agree with you on that one, Bond:)A View to a Kill was my favourite Bond, I've watched it so many time. I just love the pacing of the story, and Moore himself is the best JB IMO. My second best would probably have to be Brosnan's first film, Goldeneye. I watched it for the first time in about a year a few weeks back, and it just reminded me how great it was (plus I went and played the amazing Goldeneye game in the N64 straight after ^_^). The characters are great, especially Sean Bean as the bad guy, 006; there's a real sense of equality about the good guy and bad guy in that film, how one is not better than the other, which makes the final fight so intense. Err.. wrong thread for that Always prefered Timothy Dalton - more true to the original concept of Bond. Just think that if he had been gievn more films, he could have REALLY shown how good he was. Every one of the above films is amazing in it's own right, and comparing all the films to each other is a difficult task. However, when faced with the task, that is the order I come up with. GoldenEye was excellent, I agree. But, in my opinion, there had been better 007 films when Brosnan made his first apperance (plus better ones to come). The key sequence of GoldenEye was the tank chase through St. Petersberg: I can remember everyone here in England saying "Go and see GoldenEye for the tank chase!", and nothing else about the film being mentioned. Sean Bean was a great bad guy, but there are five better villains who have starred in Bond films over the years. 1: Christopher Walken as the psychotic Max Zorin. 2: Johnathan Price as the brilliant Elliot Carver (shame the rest of the film wasn't as perfect as his acting). 3: Christopher Lee as millionaire assassin Scaramanga. 4: Toby Stephens as the ex-Korean, now British Gustav Graves. 5: Donald Pleasence as the chilling Ernst Stavro Blofelt. Just my two pence... after all, we only live twice, so why die another day when tomorrow never dies and all we see is the view to a kill, after the living daylights have been knocked out of us. Besides, the man with the golden gun could pop up at any time, so we have to strike like thunderball and join the spy who loved me for the closing legover. You must live and let die, because the world is not enough and we all don't have a goldfinger to pay the way with. From Russia, with love, comes the licence to kill with which we must survive with, but remember: it's not just another goldeneye that people use to watch your every move. After all, diamonds are forever, so keep them close. For your eyes only can see me through the night, and stop the moonraker from taking Doctor No to his lair and destroying the special agents on her majesty's secret service. I missed out Octopussy because that word really doesn't go with anything else... Just remember to never say never again, and take a trip to the casino royale for some truly terrible James Bond rip-offs. This is going too far (and shows how sad I really am)... True - it was a nice idea, but failed. But one thing that can be relied upon, like the fact that Bond will be back, is the music. It particular, in View to a Kill when Roger Moore saves the girly Bond Girl from the burning building by carrying her down fire ladder... The reworked piece of the theme is the ultimate hero music. Absurd!), I was talking about the acting quality that Johnathan Price put into the role. Lines like "Mr. Wallace. Call the President. Tell him if he doesn't sign the bill lowering the cable rates, we'll release the video of him with the cheerleader in the Chicago motel room... and after he signs the bill, release the tape anyway." Truly inspired... Charles Grey in Diamonds Are Forever was a very good Bond villain. Maybe because you're American (I hope) you can't appreciate that the British actors like Price and Grey are in fact massively successful and very good at what they do. That's what I can't stand at the moment. Although I like America, and have nothing against Americans, you have to claim everything for yourself, don't you? The Bond films, for example, are premiered in America before England (apart from the latest film, which took ages to get the November 20th release date) when they are totally about England and how we save the world. Whilst playing 007 - NightFire, I noticed that Bond's Aston Martin V12 Vanquish is a left-hand drive car: Bond's cars have always been the proper right-hand drive, just like in England, dammit! Why, do you ask, is NightFire's car a left-hand drive? Oh, because the team behind the game is American! Lay of James Bond 007, he belongs to the greatest country in the world... ENGLAND!!! Sure, Hayden Chritiensen (SP) wasn't a good actor, but lots think that scene where he confesses the murder of the Tuskens is the best scene ever in SW, look who did it... the guy no one likes.
