preventing the game from drawing tris behind curves

Okay, this problem relates to Tal Erulanei, but I will simplify it (a lot) for the purposes of this question...

Say I have two rooms (they aren't directly connected, but are near each other). Each room has a wall that is made of an end cap, with caulk behind it forming the bounding box of the curve. the two curved walls of the two rooms face each other (in other words, if I deleted the patches and the caulk, you could see the inside of one room while standing in the other one). My question is, is the caulk enough to prevent the game engine from actually rendering the inside of one room when the player is standing in the second, or do I have to cover the inside faces of the caulk brush with some opaque texture to prevent the second room from being drawn?
