What do you LIKE MOST about Vulcanus Admin Mod/Want to see in the next one?

I thought it was weird that after several versions of both Vulcan’s admin mod and the Jedi Academy mod these bugs were never fixed, but then again maybe the people who work on them have never had them brought to their attention so if that is the case here are a few really annoying ones.

 

 

Saber throw bug:

In any game type if a person in spectator mode changes views (by pressing attack) while a thrown saber is out it will not return.

Eventually it *may return but it usually takes several minutes if it does.

 

Once there are no spectators sabers can be thrown with out error but the second a person goes into spectator mode and begins switching player views, any “flying sabers” out will not return.

 

 

 

 

Silent absorb:

I seem to encounter this on Jedi Academy mod servers more than any.

Even in a “low noise” situation like a 2 player duel (the game type not saber challenge) players using absorb will simply not make the “absorb is active” noise.

They will make the “whoosh” sound when you attempt to pull or push them and they will light up blue like normal but once you stop attacking them with Force even if absorb is left on it becomes silent again.

 

It goes away upon re spawn but as to why it happens in the first place I have no idea.

 

 

 

 

Double bladed saber animation bug:

On servers that enable this players randomly get stuck in an animation where they have both hands down by their side and are only able to move and hop around. They are unable to use Force or primary/alternate attack until they come out of this animation glitch. Sometimes it takes several minutes to come out of it, others only a few seconds.

 

Cause may be related to the block/parry system because I notice people tend to get stuck in it after having their saber collide with other player’s sabers, especially in large groups.

What do you LIKE MOST about Vulcanus Admin Mod & what would you like to see added?

 

This information is for Duelers mod & possibly the next version of Vulcanus Admin mod. Vulcanus is the reigning champion of mods & I personally think it's because it has cool features in a server-side only mod, well if there are some things that make you say "Oh, I wish I could do that in Duelers" or "Oh, I wish I could do that in Vulcanus Admin mod" then POST IT HERE - that's what this is all about.

 

I would also like you to post features about Vulcanus Admin that you like the most & preferrably why. If I see some good ideas in here I will pass them along to Mars (Vulcanus Admin coder) & perhaps he may respond to the thread as well. Thanks for your time & feedback folks, it is appreciated.

This is a bug with all JK2 mods. Ravensoft appearently fixed it for the base game with 1.04, but it doesn't work with mods, only the base game.

In any event, we realized this bug yesterday & the Duelers coder has already worked on a fix for this but it is yet to be tested. We will work on that this week.

 

As for VA, I already told mars about this & he has a very busy schedule. He said something about releasing the source code but he doesn't have any plans in the near future to fix this bug.

This is a new one, I will pass it along to both coders. I know Lee (Duelers coder) already fixed a variety of sounds playing when they shouldn't, like a jump sound when you blue special, etc; etc. This may have been something he already fixed, not sure.

I think this is a VA/JA bug only, I've never encountered this with Duelers. Again, I will pass it along to the VA coder, but again, he has no intention of fixing these bugs anytime soon; He is however planning on releasing the source so others can start where he has left off.

Teamsay is a basejk command, it has nothing to do with mods.

ok, my bad, I'm an old schooler & the teamsay command was nothing more than just talking to your teamates only.

 

To answer the question though, no I haven't played xmod. Don't get much time to play nowadays.

I personally never encountered this but I remembered it was reported by someone else. I believe I fixed it for the SE version of 1.2 which will not be released as of yet.

I never encountered this bug either...What sound card are you using?

I have recreated this bug on any server that uses the double bladed. Yes, even using the destroyer in basejk with cheats enabled. It is something to do with the animation and code for the saber moves/animations. Try using red special using double saber, smashing through glass (ctf_ns_streets). Easy way around this is to use an emote real quick and that will break you free.

 

Personally, I know MarS and that is how I started the JA Mod. He doesnt have time to update the Vulcanus Admin Mod hence why he left it with me to improve upon and I must say the JA Mod is pretty popular these days.

I will pass it along to Mars, but I doubt he will remove it from VAM.

 

I can guarantee you, nothing like that will ever go in Duelers. There are some admin commands that allow you to freeze people & whatnot, but not fight unfairly.

It is something that is fixed in the actual 1.04 release, but not in the source that ravensoft distribues.

Ya, actually I don't know anything about this bug & Lee is pretty 1337, so he may have already fixed it, but I would still like you to test out the 1.2.1 version of Duelers to see if he has fixed it.

 

We also upped the amount of player models people can have up to 512 (since there's going to be a little under 500 models with all the add-ons), perhaps that's something you can do for JA (not sure if that's client or server-side). There may be some other cool toys in Duelers that you may want to add to JA, I'm sure there are some JA things we should add to Duelers, everyone keeps mentioning it.

You can shut that off via cVar in the JA mod 1.2 if you like. The damage of the empower client is that to the same of the Jedi Master in jedi master mode, hence the glow around them. In the JA, we use it more to train rather than being an abusive admin. I think it helps in some very good ways.

Can the non-admin shut it off via a cvar? Because I think that's the point. Unless both users (admin/master/whatever & non-admin/padawan/whatever) agree to it's use, then it is an unfair advantage & I must agree, it shouldn't be coded.

 

The #1 way to make sure that there is fair gameplay is to have all clients & host with their own option of the cvar. As long as everyones cvar is enabled to 1, then the empower should be allowed, if the clients empower is not allowing it than an admin is probably abusing it & thus should not be enabled. If it is for "trials" as we discussed via MS messenger, then the admin can tell everyone to make sure that that cvar is enabled for the trials.

IMO, Vulcanus Admin Mod is a double edged sword. It can be very good for some players, but it has so many exploits...

For instance, that /amkiss is one major piece of....

It leterally holds you in one spot, and while being kissed someone can hack you up real good. Just today I had a close encounter with a kissing team, one dude challanged me to a duel and the other was following me to kiss me so the other guy can kill me.

And there's the small problem of the am commands comming first, above all others, so you can use them to stop DFA or whatever you want.

the only bug that really annoys me is the banning bug. there is a limit as to how many banned people can be in your list. if you exceed that limit by 1 player, you get

 

"Hunk_Dropped" error message on the /rcon i hate that!

it is very easy to get out of the stuck stance with the saber at your side etc... Roll forward,side and then jump, and you will be fine.

Alot of the coders are now working together. What Lee does for Duelers is make it so that you can only use emotes at a stand still (I think). I think that that, along with a variety of other bugs, will be fixed not only in JA, but some other mods as well.

Another bug that is fixed in the existing 1.2 Duelers. I don't believe Lee shared how to fix that, it was a simple fix as well. The way normal JK2 mods are you can only have 18 IPs, with the Duelers fix, you can have 1024.

 

The problem is all the IPs are stored in a CVar, we store them in a file.

Personally, I'd drop a lot of the gameplay altering cvars.

 

Giving admins the ability to subtlely change the damage levels or become a demigod in the game seems to only cause corrupted servers where the admins just harass players or confusion when finding a server with "good" settings becomes a chore. That's not a good thing for the players or the community in general. I'm sure Phunk would agree with me on the subject.

we are eventually planning on setting up a variety of duelers servers similar to darkside has there servers set up, except with pure servers, no downloads, the add-ons from full, etc; etc.

 

I think there will be a much bigger response from Duelers Full, especially considering it's pretty n00b proof, but to be honest, I was expecting a bigger response from basic. I didn't think "rome would be built in a day", but I did think some servers would go up FFS. So far all I see is 3 servers, 2 of which are old betas & they are password protected.
