LITE Jedi Posted April 16, 2003 Posted April 16, 2003 Ooiii. is that lighting? with the cool effect of shading? or some thing else?
master_thomas Posted April 17, 2003 Posted April 17, 2003 Nice. I wish I could make corkscrews like that. Why do all the mappers that are excellent with architecture map MP? We need more SP levels. (of course, I may be biased. I only map SP) I know it's much harder and more time consuming, and fps is more of an issue because of the reborn "advanced" AI. (again, sorry) Lite, it looks like well placed light entities. Which is it? Shaders, entities, or both?
wedge2211 Posted April 17, 2003 Posted April 17, 2003 Ahahahaha, the Cult of the Patch Mesh claims another soul... Awesome work, man!

New cheesy video available for download. This time made by yours truly at 4 am. Not very long, but certainly worth the little time it should take to download since it shows everything I've done so far. Video AVI format (7.7 MB @ 0:41 min): http://www.nrgteam.com/downloads/ffa2.zip

lassev Posted April 17, 2003 Posted April 17, 2003 This is incredible. True originality. It's not enough that one has the considerable skills to do things like the corkscrew, you also must have the imagination to even be able to design anything as surrealistic as that. I only now begin to realize that your name, The Truthful Liar, is in a certain sense very fitting to the ethereal mood of your maps. My humble congratulations.
Eldritch Posted April 17, 2003 Posted April 17, 2003 *surgically removes lassev's lips from The Truthful Liar's butt* *looks up* What? It needed to be done.
Kengo Posted April 17, 2003 Posted April 17, 2003 That's probabaly the most well-worded thing I have ever read on these forums Lassev, you're a natural born poet That corckscrew style structure is a wonderful bit of architecture and lighting, very nice indeed!
master_thomas Posted April 17, 2003 Posted April 17, 2003 That's probabaly the most well-worded thing I have ever read on these forums Lassev, you're a natural born poet Second most well-worded thing I've ever seen on these forums. I saw one thing in the swamp about how great video/computer games in general are. Really long and very, very, beautiful. It was incredible read. Lassev, yours is really good too.
superdude201 Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 Originally posted by wedge2211 Ahahahaha, the Cult of the Patch Mesh claims another soul... Awesome work, man! Is there any tutorials on how to patch mesh? The map ur making looks better than before and it was cool then to bad you wont be releasing that shadowtrooper skin anytime soon truthful
master_thomas Posted April 20, 2003 Posted April 20, 2003 Wedge has a reference thing on his site on simple creations, but nothing like that. I made my first successful simple patch mesh. An entire bathtub. Not much, but hey, it's a start.
Gohan_Trunksss Posted April 20, 2003 Posted April 20, 2003 ive never seen anything like this map before...... yet again a intresting map to try when it come out ^_^
The Truthful Liar Posted April 20, 2003 Author Posted April 20, 2003 Update x2 the end of the hallway.
Gohan_Trunksss Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 lol i cant help but say i love those textures!!!! i need to learn how to make moveing textures like water that swirls around >_<
master_thomas Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 Originally posted by wedge2211 I love the floor (catwalk) shader! That's exactly what I was going to say, if I had seen this earlier. Excellent shaders. I hope I can eventually make ones like that.
The Truthful Liar Posted April 24, 2003 Author Posted April 24, 2003 More screenshots. I must warn you prior to looking at a couple pictures below - you may want to gouge your eyes out due to the brightness. I'll fix that for the next compile. Bandwidth on NRG is going down again, don't be surprised if you see red x's.
superdude201 Posted April 24, 2003 Posted April 24, 2003 OMG i want that map now! It looks so great and the shaders look cool.
Gohan_Trunksss Posted April 24, 2003 Posted April 24, 2003 looks great, what else do you have left to do on it? and just curious did you make those textures yourself or did you find them?
master_thomas Posted April 25, 2003 Posted April 25, 2003 I love the dome on the top of the pillar with to corkscrew around it . Can you climb up there? It's not too bright. I like it.
