NBA Playoff talk

Well playoffs started a week ago, and I'm rather excited. The Capitals lost so I'm devoting most of my sports attention to Basketball.

I would really like to see the Pacers in the Finals. Last year they showed they had the talent, but broke down in the last game (except for Reggie). They are really exciting, and have good inside presence with Jermaine O¡¯Neal as a power forward. He can pull down rebounds and score really really well. Brad Miller, their center, is THE most versatile center in the NBA. He has the best free throw percentage (for centers) and is a good shot, outside and inside.

Reggie Miller, their Shooting Guard, is simply amazing. The fans love him, and when they really cheer, he will pull off the most amazing shots in the world. He has broken the most hearts with his three-pointer than anyone who played in the NBA. Ron Artrest, their small forward, can sometimes be a burden with his temper, but he is a true defensive player. He will guard the best and bring down their shooting percentage considerably.

Isiah Thomas, their coach, is my favorite player of all time. That does not mean he is a good coach. He needs to pull the team together, and put Reggie in more. Reggie thrives in the Playoffs.

For the west, I think the Lakers can make it if they really focus. Kobe can light it up in the blink of an eye, and Shaq always gets it done. The supporting players have been doing their jobs recently, especially their point Guard, Derek Fisher. If they come together, they can pull it off one more time, but it WILL NOT BE EASY. The Spurs OWNED the Lakers throughout the regular season, winning all 4 games. The Kings are out for Laker blood, and the Lakers have mutual feelings as well.

The Mavericks are the Dark Horse team for me. They have not played well against some of the better teams, mainly Sacremento. They are the top underdog, despite their record.

All I can say is that the Western Playoffs are going to be CRAZY!

Yeah, Iverson is playing really well. Their whole team is. Derick Coleman is their spark. When he plays well, the team does well.

The Lakers v. Sixers would be a sweet finals but the Lakers have a hard path. I have a feeling they are going to face Sacremento, and that can spell trouble if the Kings come together.

The Kings are one of the best teams for sure. their problem is that they have so much talent, that they move away from their hear, Chris Webber. They need to keep him in mist of the game. Mike Bibby and Bobby Jackisn are too inconsistant. They can't afford to keep both of them in. Webber is their most consistent player, and is able to set up others.

Doug Christy is their spark plug. he can hit the open three and is a good all-around shot. He gets the team and the crowd going.

Vlade Divac's presence changes everything. He is also a versatile center and has a few trricks up his sleave. He is good at flopping, getting the calls needed to drain the other team

What will determine of the Kings , well, can beat the Lakers, or possibly be the Spurs, is if Biiby and Jackson step up again, like last year.

Oh yeah, Peja is also a major factor, He always gives his best, and can easily drive inside, as well as hit the three. Peja is such an excellent player, and his mentality will support him. Last year, he miissed the game winning 3. This year, he will not be afraid to take that shot, and there is a good chance he will make it.

Now talk about the Celtics. :D

Meh, okay (but they are going to lose to the Pacers:p )

They have a good team, and a good coach. The have come far from what they were 2 years ago, but they still have some major holes in their game.

They lack a really good point guard for one. Last season they had Kenny Anderson, but traded him away:confused:  . Walter mcCarty is a good power forward, and pulled the team along A LOT through the regular season. he isn't doing as much in the playoffs yet.....

Tony Battie, their center, needs to get better. He is an okay shot blocker, but doesnt have any "strength" to his game. He needs to be able to pull down rebounds, and throw down baskets, but he doens't.

Antoine Walker is a really good player, most of the time. He is a big guy, i think 6'9 or something, but he doesn't go inside. He always stays on the perimiter and throws up three pointers. This may work sometimes, but as they say "Live by the three, die by the three." He needs to make better descisions on court, and cut down on the trash talk as well.

Paul Pierce is without a doubt, their best offensive weapon. He can drive inside, shoot the three, AND hit the off balanced shot. He lives for comebacks, and I thinks he averages the most 4th quarter points in the league. The thing is, he can't carry the team all by himself, on those nights when Antoine Walker can't seem to buy a shot.

Then again, they might start hitting the threes, and make it to the finals, but that is unlikely. No team EVER won the playoffs by shooting the three all the time. They need to incorporate different styles to their game, in addition to their 3 point shooting.

I just can't believe how the Lakers totally pwned the Timberwolves in their first playoff game, then got pwned back with a 119/91 loss against the T-wolves!! Arg, what the hell!? I just hope they can pull everything together for the 3rd game.

Whoa. I am really suprised! Minnesota beat the Lakers yesterday, taking the series lead 2-1!

They eved did it without KG, their superstar. He was fouled out in the OT, and the rest of the team managed to pull it off. Wow. Minnesota has come really far, and to win 2 games in the playoffs against the Lakers proves that.

BUT, I still think LA can beat them. Minnesota just doesn't have enough playoff experiance, and KG needs to have some help at the helm.
