BobaWP Posted April 26, 2003 Posted April 26, 2003 Well I am rooting for the yankees. And at I think you could agree with me there. Just look at there record and the depth or thier order. Look what they are doing without Jeter.
UnfrozenCaveman Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 I'm a big Yankee fan! And I can say for sure that it won't be the Red Sox in the world series! Alas, I don't think it is time for a post like this though. It's too early in the season to tell who will win the world series. Who'd have thought at this time last year that the Angels would be the champions? I'd love to see the Montréal Expos take the National League!
Kiedo Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 Why do American teams have such stupid names? Like the first bit is OK, but then they put a stupid word after it, like "Dolphins" or something
coupes. Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 yeah! go Expos ! They're actually not so bad this year, but they still are miles from winnig a wold series.
UnfrozenCaveman Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 I was listening to Jim Rome last thursday, and he had the Expos GM on. The guy was saying, in a few years if the core of the team is still together, they'll be major contendors for the NL penate. We have stupid names because we let people pick the name of the sport team coming to town. Eg, Houstan Texans, Rochester Rhinos, Rochester Rattlers (lax team). Columbus BlueJackets. A side note, the Yankees actually took their name from what the British used to call people from New Amsterdam. They called them Yan-cheese (or something sounding like that)- it intern evolved to Yankee. A lot of the times though, the names for our certain teams symbolize something from that particular region. Like the soccer team called, Chicago Fire...or the baseball team Texas Rangers. So, I guess it makes sense then.
Evad Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 KC Royals all the way... we're 17-5 New York better watch out! This year the American League is ours!
UnfrozenCaveman Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 That's really good...although the Yankees are 18-3....and that's without Jeter and Rivera. But, we'll see what happens after the All-Star break, and whether your Royals are still around.
UnfrozenCaveman Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 Around the local watering hole watching the Yanks win yet another world series
UnfrozenCaveman Posted May 4, 2003 Posted May 4, 2003 Genesis, haven't seen you in a while, what's up?
Jan Gaarni Posted May 4, 2003 Posted May 4, 2003 Why is it called the World Series? Isn't it only the amercians who play it?
