Greda Pa'sun Posted April 27, 2003 Posted April 27, 2003 How will this work in the game? WIll you have two different buttons for each sabre, or will it be like combined moves? This aspect is quite puzziling. Also do you think your character has to have some sort of ambedextrious ability? I can't wait for the game, i'll probably be playing it on both platforms, just to see how they differ, and i'll be getting a wookie as soon as i can
Hannibal Posted April 27, 2003 Posted April 27, 2003 You won't be able to activate one blade at a time. Both will come on at the same time. Also a while back the devs said there wouldn't be a button to ignite and de-ignite your saber. But when a official forum member inquired about it they said they'd check on it. So we'll have to wait to see if that makes it in.
jedi3112 Posted April 27, 2003 Posted April 27, 2003 I think he means if u fight with 2 singlebaded lightsabers. I don't really know about the on/off switch, but I saw screens of handles only in the gallery @ the official site from LucasArts, but that might be a combat vs non-combat mode if they have that.
Jedi Apprentice Posted April 27, 2003 Posted April 27, 2003 I heard that your saber ignites when you are close to an enemy/area of danger and de-ignites when you aren't in any danger. Maybe I am listening to old info though....
Greda Pa'sun Posted April 27, 2003 Author Posted April 27, 2003 I was thinking allong the lines of being able to throw a sabre while in a fight, or to be able to block with one and still fight off a jedi with another?
Toa Tahu Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 Ah,you're wrong, that's Jedi Academy,or rather Jedi Knight 3,to be short. As for double sabres in KotOR,you can only switch on both blades at once, neither one at a time.Hope that helps.
Swat Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 Originally posted by Greda Pa'sun I was thinking allong the lines of being able to throw a sabre that you can, as saw in the video
Burrie Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 As for double sabres in KotOR,you can only switch on both blades at once, neither one at a time.Hope that helps. Are you sure about this one? I can remember reading that you can only activate both blades on double-bladed saber(aka Darth Maul's saber), but I really don't see a reason why you won't be able to activate one saber, and half-way thru the fight activate your second saber?
Hannibal Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 Originally posted by Burrie ...but I really don't see a reason why you won't be able to activate one saber, and half-way thru the fight activate your second saber? I can tell you why you won't be able to . Because there will be no key(yet) to activate your saber. When you get into a combat situation it will ignite automatically. So if you are holding 2 they both will ignite and will combat is over they will automatically un-ignite. Now like I said earlier one of the Devs said that they were looking at adding the ability to ignite and un-ignite your sabers with a key(or button) but as of when the question was asked(a couple of weeks a go) there was no such key/button.
Burrie Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 'oi, I knew that Basically, I was more referring to the fact that you can surely change weapons in the middle of combat, roit? So what's keeping me from first using one saber at the start of the fight, and halfway through pausing the game, add a saber to the weapon slot, and continue fighting?
Greda Pa'sun Posted April 28, 2003 Author Posted April 28, 2003 that's the kinda thing i was thinking, also does anyone know how having two sabers will be an advantage over having one? (except for obvious reasons)
Burrie Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 that's the kinda thing i was thinking, also does anyone know how having two sabers will be an advantage over having one? (except for obvious reasons) I believe that with two sabers, you can make two attack rolls in one round. Of course, this has several penalties(ie. lower chance of actually hitting your foe) whom will be decreased if you have several feats.

It's to bad you won't be able to use a saber and pull out a blaster in the other hand. That would()kick @$$. They already said this won't be possible.
StormHammer Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 Okay, I've been a bit out of the loop, so to speak, but I thought weapon selection might be a bit along the lines of NWN...where you could set up quick slots for different weapons. Doesn't that mean you could have a slot for two sabers, and a slot for one? I know you can set up a slot for two swords in NWN... If that's the case, it should be simple to switch between using one or two sabers...unless it's set up completely differently.
TheChosenOne- Posted April 29, 2003 Posted April 29, 2003 This may or may not have been answered but,can lightsabers get damaged, and do we gotta recharge them?? If i use a double-edge,can it be cut in two like Darth Mauls?? I know you can choose your saber color, but can you change it during the game?If i start with say...bespin blue, can i change it later to green or purple? Sorry,if this was answered already,if it was,i missed it then.

Well, I remember some discussion about that on the official boards, but I don't think the devs ever gave a clear answer. *looks to Com and Hannibal* (they usually know all the official boards info* And yes, you can change the crystals in your saber during the game so you will be able to change the color.
Greda Pa'sun Posted April 30, 2003 Author Posted April 30, 2003 for realism it would be cool to be able to loose your sabre in a fight and then maybe have to dodge to be able to force pull it towards you.. what do you think?
Burrie Posted April 30, 2003 Posted April 30, 2003 I believe the developers said that you won't be able to pick up each lightsaber from your foe. Shame actually, I was hoping that I could started a collection onboard the Ebon Hawk
TheChosenOne- Posted May 1, 2003 Posted May 1, 2003 But besides color, can we change from single,to two sabers to double edges??Thats cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If we don't like single,we can go Maul style and go double edged.....wow!
Frosty_V2.1 Posted May 1, 2003 Posted May 1, 2003 They better have a saber on/off toggle!! if only to have one of those cinematic moments where you spot a bad guy and both of you stand there ignite ur sabers staring each other down for a moment
Greda Pa'sun Posted May 1, 2003 Author Posted May 1, 2003 you're going to loose the surprise of the enemy if sabre;s ignite when you come close you'll never be taken off guard

I hope they have it just because it would be cool. I don't imagine at any point the enemy AI will just be staring at you.
Burrie Posted May 1, 2003 Posted May 1, 2003 Well, the developers did say that the combat will be cinematic, so I personally would expect that there might be some "staring" moments.
