depends. If they're cloning full humans and letting them grow all the way... I'd say no. The next thing you know, we have our own clone war.....

If they're talking about cloning organs and stuff, I'd say go for it. It could save people's lives.

And the cloning human embreyos (sp?) for the stim cell research or whatever, I think it's fine. It's not like they're sentient. They're cells. Cells don't think, it's reflexes and stuff.

I dont like the idea of cloning because first of all the clones would probably get lots of jobs and we allready have jobless people why make more and second why bring someone back raise them again when they can never be the person that you want them to be and third people have been destened to die since since the first human was born created or whatever floats your boat so why mess with that I mean have people grown so pathetic that they cant even part with there loved ones

i like your point but i think if cloning started like that i think athey would restrict the things tha the clones could do and only let them so the really bad worthless jobs like security, miltary, janitors, ect. ect.

but i dout the world would come to the fact of mass cloneing

Then that would bring into play the question of their legal status. Kind of like with the black slaves--are they citizens? Or are they even people?

Personally, I think that the are they human? Do they have a soul? debates are stupid. I mean, in theory, if it worked 100% and the clone was perfectly healthy and sentient, then what would make it not human? Theoretically, if cloning went without a hitch, you would have a perfect copy of the original HUMAN. So, what would make them inhuman. The religious may ask if they have a soul. Well, if the body is just a shell for the real human or soul, then, wouldn't it be logical that the copy, even though it's genetically identical, have a different soul. To me - and I'm not a religious person - if a person is living, it has a soul.

And cloning people for crap work? That reminds me of an old movie I saw on Mystery Science Theater 3000, called Clonus. Funny as anything with the guys joking about it, but, in the movie which was hard to take seriously, you would pay to have a clone made, and raised on sort of a clone ranch, so that when you started to die of, say, a heart attack, they would kill the healthy clone and do a perfect heart transplant.

Really cheesy in the movie, but if it's even being considered to have clones as slaves and virtual pets, then that is just sicker than slavery before, but the same principal. People who ran slaves did so because they saw them as less than human. Back then, it was because of skin color, or religion, now, it seems it is because they will be born by other means than traditional sex.

Personally, I am a bit of a neutral on the subject, but if they are just gonna clone people to treat them like animals, then I am against it. If they will be treated like equals, have their own records, and backgrounds, and you know, just be free to live like a person, then I see nothing wrong with that. A bit stupid, but nothing wrong.

To me, it's not so much an ethical question, so much "What's the point?" I mean, the human race has thrived, partly because, well, we love to mate. So, what's the point of adding a copy of a person, adding to the world population, taking away the benefits of the human's ever changing, ever expanding mind, and you don't even have any fun to make it happen. Just a little pointless to me.

Oh, yeah, Cloning organs is great to me.

end rant.

Clones are just as much humans as you and me. There is no difference, except for that they have the same genetic code as someone else. Just as one-egged twins. And they will probably be more alike each other that a clone and its source will ever be.

It's only a genetic code.
