Jedi Apprentice
Ok, I know there has to be some LoTR fans in the swamp. Maybe even hardcore fans. If so let me hear about it! Tell why you like the books, movies and/or games or maybe even why you dislike them. My reasons--The movies are just way too cool. The story just draws you in and I can't get out now. The books also have the same effect, but are on a much deeper note. The games are just stinkin' fun! I love getting to play as the characters I see in the movies. What do the rest of you swampies think?
Sam Fisher
I agree with most of that all the way, but, I didn't like The Fellowship of the Ring game very much, too much scripting for me,

Darklighter
Well, first there was the book. And I'm telling you, the book is the book of books. I absolutely loved reading them, the text was so emotionally involving at parts it was almost unreal. Books have a very different effect than film or television, as they require the reader to pay close attention to what is going on. In a book, every single word is critical, and Tolkien definitely showed that in LOTR ^^ As for the films, I must be honest. At first I didn't think the films would be good at all. After reading the book, I expected them to directly copy the story and lines from the book onto silver screen, and was very disappointed when they were gonna cut stuff out. However, my worries were silenced by the time the first film came out: it is easily one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. Just the scale and depth of it is incredible. Each character has their own story, and you really get attached to them and relate to them. There's never a moment of corny acting, badly written jokes or dodgy technical moments. The film flows incredibly well from start to finish, covering all the elements necessary for a quality films-viewing. The second film, I have to say, I actually preferred. I just loved the development of the characters, and as the story progressed, the tension mounted to a spectacular finale, and once again left the audience with a cliffhanger, wanting to see the next film (which I do, very much =D). I doubt they could've thought up better actors to play the main roles - each seemed very adept and suited to playing the roles, and I just got a very natural feel from watching the movie, almost as if what happening on screen was real. Some of my favourite characters include Aragorn (the main man, and Mortensen does the character justice by far), Legolas (everyone loves the elf man ^^) and Gollumn (very funny, occassionally annoying, but still good =]). It's knock-out stuff:D With the games, I have only played Two Towers for PS2. Even so, it is an excellent representative title for the LOTR game franchise. It really is an amazing game, the graphics are fantastic, and the gameplay very fast and fluid. Overall, the game is a lot of fun, being able to play as Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli, there is a lot of variety with the game spread out right across the first two films. Highly recommended, if anyone is considering playing it who hasn't. I'd like to just point out, that this is the longest post I have written this century. So, give it up for me! >_>
